Well HPS will replace BLS. I ASSUME that HPS stands for high performance servo or something like that. I am sure this technology will expand to an entire (premium) servo line.

For very old guys note that the 700 servos are the same size as a KPS-10. The KPS-10 had 19 in-oz and a transition time of 0.9 seconds for 90 degrees.

do you remember the days of servos with plastic gears?
Worked well, I guess, but not on an airplane with a 20 cc 4 stroke nitro engine. this is what happened:

I loved those Saito four strokes when i was into glow. OS 2 strokes and Saito 4's. That was glow perfection. I put Perry pumps on my Saito engines and they really became monsters.

that was from 7 years ago. The airplane was brand spanking new. I used the JR DS 8231 servo on the rudder, which was plastic gear (unbeknown to me, I was a newbie), and On the maiden flight, after 4 minutes of flying, I decided to do knife edge passes. After the second one, I lost total rudder input. I remember trying to level her off with the ailerons but the tail was in flutter and it all happened so quick. it was a spectacular finish. The airplane was lost. I think with the Garmin, the GPS claimed I was flying at 100 mph. from what I recall. I remember it was over 100, maybe it was more. LOL! fun times. I never used another plastic gear servo again!

yes, they were fun, life was simpler back then, in that, the hobby was lower cost. Now, the airplanes and electronics are way more reliable, but it is so much more expensive. We are crazy!!! Just think, I go nuts thinking about a servo with over 1000 ou/in torque, and the price tag of 250 a piece, it like does not matter (to me), because I am addicted! We have an illness.

that JR ds 8231 servo was 88 ou/in at 6 volts!

And those old Kraft specs were for a new servo. The performance went down from there with age. I flew quite a few of those decades ago.

It makes you wonder what our kids will have for servos in another 40 years.

Had not seen that I recall. However, that is related to a part being available. Not directly related to the actual service department. But I trust you will keep an eagle eye out for anything negative that pops up.

That RC Group guy can complain as much as he want - he is the one out of specs.

Some part are not sold - no matter what - and this with any radio brand.
So HARIBO - this RC Group tread is NOT a reference to bash FUTABA - you are in the boony.
