I like the scheme. Biggest changes I see are the stagger and the tail placed lower. Both make it a better R'cer.

Re: Hangar 9 Pitts 12R "The Beast"

Kevin,
Thank you for the information, it's what I really wanted to here, looks like that will be my step into giant scale.
I've had several people tell me you can't do better than the 260's..... But I agree Bipes are some of the most elegant looking planes out there.
By the way I love the scheme as well..... what is on the bottom? do you see any orientation issues that may arise with the scheme?

Thank you again to you and everyone else for the help and info

Angielew,

Glad you like the BEAST. The underside of the lower wings and tail are mostly gold with a big BEAST logo in the gold on the wing. The airplane, full scale and model are both easy to see even on a cloudy day or below the tree line.

JP,

The word I have is that things are still on schedule for these to be available from Horizon later this year. We are going over the full scale Beast right now in our shop checking it over before it heads out on a 6 week tour around the country. He will be at several shows including Oshkosh during that time so watch of it near you. Later this fall, it will be flying it's first airshow.

Re: Hangar 9 Pitts 12R "The Beast"

Kevin,

I was wondering when the Beast flew in at Nall why it didn't do any aerobatics. I assumed it was because the plane was new and had not been thru the certification process yet. With that in mind what is the process you have to go through to fly it at air shows. I would think there is a long process.

Just curious. Also where can I find the schedule for it's appearances when time is ready.

Re: Hangar 9 Pitts 12R "The Beast"

Mike,

The reason the Beast did not do acro at the Nall was that the owner/pilot had not yet been approved to fly airshows in the airplane. Each airshow performer has to go through many qualifications in order to fly shows. If the airplane is new to that pilot, he has to show proficiency in that airplane in a controlled environment before being allowed to fly shows in it. If, for example, Matt Chapman wanted to fly shows in a twin Beech, he would have to practice in it, get good, then fly for an ACE to get that airplane added to his waiver. In addition to the above, the BEAST was not on the airshow waiver for the Nall.

Basically, the airplane/pilot combo was too new and not ready yet. He is working in it and has been developing a routine that is unique for the industry and shows the power and capability if this airplane. Even at that, the BEAST airshow will evolve over time.

Soon, www.beastairshows.com will have more detail for you to follow. The website is in development now and should be up and running as more than an opening page soon.

Kevin,

Thanks for that info, I always wondered what the process was.

Looking forward to seeing it perform!
