I see a new contest in Creston BC. Glenn was talking about it when I met him at Silver Hills... looks like he's making it happen. Awesome!

Are there any fields in Western WA that could actually have an IMAC contest? All the fields I know of won't work for one reason or another. Are there any possibilities we should be pursuing?

Jeff are you talking about the 400ft ceiling that AMA has imposed . We all have to be aware of the ceiling issue .
My club is under a ceiling limit as the commercial jets use it doing their approach patterns for the runways but they are usually at 2000 plus ft . You can plug in a gps sensor to your receiver and it will give you an accurate ft and a map of were you fly . My Jeti has this and all the Futaba's have this capability to map your flight .

I wasn't even thinking of the 400ft ceiling but of course that's another problem. Lots of fields just don't have enough flying space, in some cases there is a neighbor that's just too close, in some cases it's trees, some cases it's no camping. Of course camping isn't an absolute requirement but I don't think we would get good attendence without it.

2020 Judging School has been scheduled for 29 February and 1 Mar 2020 at the Richland Library at 0830AM. Scheduling conflicts means we get together on the Leap Day!!! Bring your friends and have some fun

Rick said he will do the demo flights if it's below 40 degrees.

Thanks to those of you who have put contests on the calendar. In order to be approved we need a write up with the details of the event AND a flyer.

There's also talk of having separate RPS for freestyle this year so I would like to encourage pilots and CD's to consider this as you are attending or holding contests.

There's a big gap in contests from Memorial day weekend in Boise to July 18th at Molalla...if anyone would like to sneak a contest in there somewhere I'd be happy to make it happen.

Freestyle.....

Okay guys...so here it is, we seem to struggle in getting many of us to participate in the freestyle portion of the contests.

In the northwest I am looking at keeping track of the freestyle scores on a separate spreadsheet if it isn't made possible in the IRPS. Instead of a trophy at the end of the year I am looking at giving away a NIB 120cc engine to the points leader at the regional contest.

Start mixing some music, bring an extra plane. More details at the northwest judging school.

Thanks Clark! I would definitely like to see us fly freestyle more often. I have a goal of participting when we have it... didn't make it happen last year... so maybe this is the year... probably fly my 60in Laser since I don't have anything bigger that is set up for freestyle. I need to finish the music that I started last year and hopefully advance my skills so I can do rolling harrier circles with the Laser... have done a few with the foamies but not yet with the balsa.
