Had the glitchy aileron thing on my 1st dx18 gen1. Thought it was my planes, till I transfered my models to my friends dx18 and the problem disappeared .Horizon replaced gimbal and reloaded software. Updated to dx18 Gen 2 and just got mine back from Horizon as it failed the range test. New rf board and reload software. I fly iat a dry lake where there is very little rf noise or 2.4 traffic. Never lost a plane. I have four 150cc, and three 100cc planes. I love my dx18. Sorry to hear about your woes with it.

When I got back into the hobby 4 years ago I still had some older servo extensions and y connectors. I didn't know you couldn't use a amplified y connector. Plane crashed on the maiden flight. I did some searching online and found that it was a big no no on 2.4 to use them. I cut up all the amplified y's so I couldn't make that mistake again.

I just upgraded from my DX8 to a DX18 Gen 1. You guys are making me nervous. Never had so much as a glitch with my DX8. Problem is I've promised it to my brother once I get everything moved over to the 18. Haven't used it yet. I guess I'll just fly the tar out of it on some older stuff and see what happens.

Yeah sure would be a shame to have that all that new stuff make a hole in the ground.

I have had hundreds if not thousands of flights on numerous planes over the past 4-1/2 years on my dx18s (gen1 and gen2). Not one crash. I trust my dx18 and powersafe receivers explicitly.

yes i have to say that you will have something weird happen if the rf output board goes bad.

just put it this way...
if an engine sputters that usually runs like a watch,
if at knife edge and allof a sudden you do a knife edge wall... LOL
if you come across at high speed pass and engine sputters and controls dont reel right...

...you may have an issue. STOP, check with range check, (although in my case that didnt reveal anything) and contact horizon and discuss the problem after you land. and if you just crashed, do the same. dont immeadiately blame it on batteries or rx. get the distributor's opinion on it before you fly again.

I lost 3 aircraft on my dx18. 1 30cc 2 120cc....3 years apart, and the two 120's the same weekend.

horizon did what they could to make it right. they are stand up folks. but due diligence is the part of the pilot.

Rf board was replaced by horizon on account if the dx18 Gen 2 recall. No charge

If you lost a plane with an older AR7000, these were known to have brownouts problems, horizon replaced for free for those that sent in. I am also aware of a large amount of AR9020 that were problematic and included with dx18 . I did lose one plane last year, tried out an orange rx receiver. Silly me.

I looked but couldn't find that bulletin on the AR7000 known to have brownout problems. Do you have that information available?

Google ar7000 quick connect. Horizon reprogrammed the ar7000 to connect faster after a brownout. They did not replace rx, they just reprogrammed, and sent back. I had all 7 of mine done in early 2009.

I have the DX-18 Gen 1, and it has been perfect. I am sure HH will take care of it.

We will see?

Well Horizon came through on service, at least time wise. The following is the work-order status report as of 12/8/2015 4:30 PM.

1 - SPM DX18 Transmitter - Return (SPMDX18)
Date/Time (CST) Status
12/8/2015 12:20 PM Ready to Ship
12/8/2015 9:47 AM Assigned to Technician
12/7/2015 4:20 PM Product Checked In

When I spoke to the technician earlier today he said he could not duplicate the problem but had noted corrosion on the aileron/elevator gimbals and suspected the same inside the pots which are sealed units.
They are replacing both gimbals assemblies and the trim switches, cleaning everything and shipping it back to me. I still don't have a lot of faith in the radio and would have preferred a real good deal on a replacement .
I suppose I'll log a bunch of hours with an old 30cc Pilot Trainer, it has been a good flier, before I fly anything big again.

I found it with the search. It seems this deals with a low voltage issue.
