Slipperymick3d, Thanks I appreciate the time and experience. I have read that the 215cc is a bit heavy when it comes to balancing the plane. It sounds like for most things being equal minus preventative maintenance, both planes are closely aligned. Thanks again.

Hi All,

Could somebody tell me what is the required stand off length for a ZDZ195 on this airframe, please?

Also photos are welcome from the setup as mindstarter .

Thanks,
Vince

New aircraft maiden day. CARF Extra330LX 3.0m; GP178; JMB TRA70L canisters; MTW knuckle headers; 6” TruTurn; Falcon 31x12; 5” White Rose mains; White Rose/J&J tail wheel hybrid; Hitec 9380 flight controls.
New engine ran nice and cool and was left a bit rich on both needles as I break it in,

looks beautiful!
congrats!

would you be willing to share with us:

1. what is weight with fuel tank empty

2. how was flight envelope?

3. can you set up mechanical servo for the elevators so that with full servo travel, there is only 15 degrees of elevator travel in any direction? meaning, for IMAC, low travel and high servo resolution?

no the tunnel is not long enough , as well as the rudder tray being mounted in the way as well , guess it could be done if you mounted the rudder further down the rear but the cg would be a problem

Did these fit in there without cutting the cowl at all? Just got a set from JTEC and mounted them to my GP 178. I haven’t cut the cowl yet, but it looks like it’s going to be a tight fit... really hoping I don’t need to cut the half moons!

mine were rubbing so I removed a shim from motor mount and it still made contact. took them to the local fab shop and had them angle the end plate for clearance

Hi Guys,

The first kit has arrived just yesterday from the 2. After the first quick check overall the kit made a good impression on me, however I found some of the factory solutions less reliable. By this I am asking what is your experience, mainly those owners who made enough starts which after the regular week points could come out.

One is the fixation of the canopy.
Somehow I could stay at the one screw on top solution howeverI found that the canopy frame could move a lot in sideways which after a point in my eyes could results that fixation screw get loose even at worst case. Here I am thinking of to rework the front flaps of the canopy frame into a screw lock version, by that at 3 points the canopy would be fixed with screws.

The other is that the mounting point of the rear landing gear is located on the removable door of the fuselage. I cannot imagine this can withstand example harrier landings. I am thinking of to glue a wooden inlay a bit more forward which can be used to mount the rear landing gear.

What is your opinion, or what do you see to make differently if you could build once again this kit?

Cheers,
Vince

did just that , removed (dremmel) the original wood tab in the tail box then hysol a FG flat plate to engage fuse and T wheel mount screws
I place a piece of tape over the screw hole before flight to prevent loss , and use a longer screw
