Hi All,

Wishing to build a 35% Edge 540, and in my search have came across Wendell's model, I would be after a well flying Floatie edge, as they inherently are, its use will be More light 3d than anything,

Just after some input from fellow modelers who have owned or flown this plane, From most reports it flys well and lands slow..

To be more 3D Capable im assuming i will need to double bevel the control surface and enlarge them to a degree too. Any thing else im missing?

Any pics welcome as i can find many on it.

Here is a Pic of a Completed one. Is actually the Same out line as the Bob Godfrey Model. and Thus uses the same Cowl, Canopy, Pants etc.

Ok Guys, Bit of Update, WERE GOING TO BUILD IT!

So i have got the Plans in hand, and Have digitized them to allow me to put them into a laser cutter, This build we take a little bit to start, Due to the setup and Slight redesign interns of the fuse to bring it inline with Current building design Or at least that is the plan and to shed some weight from it a well, So carbon everything i can.

I will look at enlarging the rudder and Elevators half, Aileron not sure if i need to yet, They will get the double bevel hinge treatment. - Any help from people in Know would be great as this a bit new to me.

So at the moment just collecting parts, Like wheels spinners etc, Am order all the glass parts etc from Fiberglass Specialties, So they should be on route soon.

Will post update etc ones i have some more to update

Small Update, All the Parts have Left FGS - Cowl, Canopy, Pants + Other parts for for a 37% Challenger II

Few parts have arrived this week, Like 5 in CF Spinner, 4 Inch wheels. Cf Landing gear and Tail wheels on there way. Aeroplus Fuel tank.

Have just been collecting Most of the parts & Accessories as somethings will effect my design like gear size etc.

Ohh & the Dle120 has also Landed.

Will post Pics in the coming week when all parts arrive.

Alrighty some more slight progress, Have ordered the custom carbon wing / tail tubes,

38mm Od with a 0.5mm carbon sleeve, Also a tail tube of 19mm with a 0.5mm. in Rolled carbon

Any more info you can share on your "modifications" for these plans? Looks like a nice plane. Will you be stretching the wings a bit to get a bit more "float" out of it?

In terms of changes, Id be looking at changing to a single Place/Single canopy by modifying that design, & shortening up the canopy.

-Change the hinge line on the stabs about 25 mm forward to have a larger elevator and adding counter balances. Will keep stabs removable.

-Wings with be hinge line change again to enlarge the surface.

-Rudder will stay as is i think at this stage, as dont want to change airfoils. Will make removal

-Taller landing gear as the plans specced height is a little low.

-All surfaced will have double bevels to get decent amount of though.

Biggest thing will be keeping it light and slight redesign to update it to more modern building techniques (will only be minor things like interlocking former etc). Already pretty light aircraft for 34%,

Am using carbon everything, So all the wing tubes and sleeves, Landing gear etc

This will be something ill be tinkering around with for a little bit and be a bit slow in progress.
