I recently (middle last year) bought a TREX-450 Pro V2 3GX Super Combo (long a$s name!) and I love the thing. It's all stock with the exception of the speed control which I upgraded to a Castle ICE Lite 50 for the data logging capabilities and 5 amp BEC, and the thing is a blast to fly. I used to fly helis about 10-12 years ago, just barely though. This little electric blows away any Nitro helis I had back in the day as far as performance and the flybarless is awesome IMO. I say definately get one if you've thought about trying heli's.
It's a new challenge, it's new stuff to learn, obviously a new way to fly, and it's interesting to see what the heli world thinks is cool as far as servos, speed controls, radios, brands.. etc. |

YEssir. I totally agree.
GREAT choice not using the Align esc/bec- my Trex450 super duper (not FBL) overloaded the bec just hovering. I'm cursed by 450s and cannot own one apparently. And if you like the 450- the bigger ones are a scream. Its just waaay cool to fly a chopper once in awhile- a great diversion from the airplane thing. But only a diversion- there is nothing forgiving about the helis. |

I'd love to get a bigger one but the performance on the little 450 is really impressive and it small enough I can fly it at the local football fields and have tons of space and don't have to drive all the way to the field to get a couple flights in. I will probably end up with two, a 450 and something bigger for the few rare days I do make it to the field. I have the DFC head upgrade for it but haven't installed it yet. The regular FBL head has been good for me. I do want the new tail grip setup with the thrust bearings though. Not sure when that will be available. |

Which Flybarless controller does it have? You might get away with purchasing just the JR/Spektrum satellites if it is the right controller. You will need at least 6 channels to control it, but as you noticed, you could use some spare ports in the receiver to plug in the regulaotrs. BTW which regulators are they? and why two? I have a 700N at the house with a BeastX FLB controller. I have it connected to a JR 921 receiver with satellite. It is powered by a LiIon pack thru an Arizona regulator. So the plugs used are: throttle, rudder, aileron, elevator, pitch, giro gain, and governor. The Arizona provides power to the receiver thru the rudder and gyro gain ports, while the rudder servo and gyro are connected directly to the Arizona. Hope this gets you going in the right direction.
