Interesting idea. Will have to wait and see how the proto type works out.

I kinda prefer the current model as it represents a more scale like aerobatic aircraft vise the ARF of today with the oldie worldie beveled hinge line,,, just saying.

I think CARF had to lift their game, they haven't been very innovative recently. With the likes of Krill lots of the extra work has been done at the factory.

I think it is an amazing design, but the devil is in the details. The bottom line is the aero performance.

This question is mainly because I'm unfamiliar with the design, but what advantage or purpose will having the aileron servos in the fuselage serve?

Less mass out in the wing which equates to less momentum. Meaning your snaps stop quicker and everything will be a little more crisp. For those that don’t believe this will be an advantage I hope mattymatt will chime in as he was famous for his ultra light dalton wings that achieved just this.

For IMAC, it's amazing. But for 3D guys that like the momentum, makes it too stable for tumbles.

90% of the folks who fly big planes won't be able to tell the difference between servos in the fuse and servos near the root.... maybe 95%

While I admire the engineering I would have mounted the servos inside the wing at the root. Their mass would still be centralized and you wouldn't need all the complexity of those belcranks, links and torque tubes inside the fuse.

I like the idea. It is innovative. However, I would like to see how lite and stiff they can make a composite plane.

That would be more competitive to the current crop of high quality wood planes

Didn't Spencer Nordquist win TAS with a CARF 330 SC?

Completely agree... it would have made setup more simple... seems rather complex in this configuration. Moving the servos out 3 inches wouldn’t effect much. Now moving them 2 or more feet to the wing root makes a difference

I love that CARF is doing something new and innovative. It might not work, but I applaud them for trying something new. I've always hated servos poking through the plane and visible from the outside. If this new design works, it'll look awesome. It also has the advantage of nice short servo leads, in addition to the centralized mass. I can't wait to see the completed model.
