Mine arrived today. Looks great. I ordered this Extra and the new 48" EF Edge. Very busy lately, not sure when I will get around to putting these together. I hope soon because it will kill me having them sit in the box. Maybe we should start a thread for the gas version of this plane and we can all post assembly pics, and share setups?

Good idea to have a group build thread! I just got some Hitec 7955 titanium gear servos, wow it is quick and very strong on 6 volts. It is going to be great on the rudder. Are you going to have a graphics package for it? How about a Tony Stewart #14 theme?

I have a few EF Extra shemes on the site. I can always do something custom if you want. A Stewart scheme might be cool!
I don't know how long it will be before I get to start on mine. It might be a little while if things stay this busy. |

When I see "Smoke" on dirt, it looks like 3-D flying to me! I like the Syssa theme as well! How many Syssa/ES pipe combos are there? We should have the weights soon with and without the pipe.

Nice to see so much excitement building about this plane. I am anxious to see how the gas versions compare to the electric versions.
Affas, the video from Norway was really nice. Brave group flying in the snow. It makes a great background for pictures and videos, but too cold for me, I'm a tropical kind of guy. LOL! An interesting aside, Tim flew his electric version in a Pattern contest this weekend. Hey, it is a 2 meter right? Normaly Tim flies Unlimited in IMAC. This was his first Pattern event. He flew in the Masters class, without much practice. The plane preformed well, and Tim managed to finish mid-pack. That is an incredible result flying against experienced Pattern competitors, with their super expensive 2 meter Pattern Ships, and in the highest AMA Class. What EF has created is a scale aerobatic model, that is a 3-D monster, and can fly precision with the Pattern ships. All this in the reasonable under $450 price range. Fantastic! |

You know, I had heard the "Pattern Snob" thing before I went to my first contest last year. This was only my 3rd Pattern event. This was a first event for 3 of the other guys from San Diego who went to the Yuma contest. In all events I have been to including this one, I have found the regulars to be welcoming, friendly, willing to help, and happy to see us. They were very interested in the 78" Extra, and had nothing but good comments about it. No real reason to coplain about flying the EF Extra in a Pattern contest. It fits the rules in regional events since the planes are not weighed.
I can't speak about other areas of the Country, but here in District 7, I have not encountered any of the "snobs'. Great group of guys in my experience. The other new guys expressed similar feelings. |
