no, there is no spring under the black cover.

rocket, it's easy enough take off but on landing it always comes around. one of my axles is slightly larger than the other, so it drags just a bit. I think when the plane slows down it's enough to cause a yawing motion. the rudder is so small it's doesn't counteract.

I am very slow to sell stuff.

Gotcha...thanks.

May play around with adding shock cord for rebound assist.

My oe spring gear had springs under the cover. That's what i removed to install the pr bush wheel stuff. Can take picture to prove if you want

Maybe your wheel drag is causing the problem but an easy fix

upon closer inspection there are two springs per strut. but they serve no function other than to be wrapped around by black cloth. I guess the powers that be figured it would look better to wrap them up and make it look good rather than having two springs that did nothing.

received the sprung gear today and removed the black cover. They are exactly the same design as 1/4 J-3, PA/18 Super Cub. Sliding gear retained by 2 springs. In fact, the retaining springs may be the same as used in the smaller/lighter 1/4 models.

As I previously mentioned, the springs are effective for a couple of hard landings before stretching beyond usefulness. Curious if anyone flying with these have noticed anything different. Perhaps the springs have been upgraded?

Since I had the covers off, I added a couple of windings of shock cord to assist the springs. Picture is after covers put back in place.

Also have the PRB shocks, but am curious to see how well the sprung gear hold up without the shocks.

Flight Modes

Can you explain how to do this, or at least the concept.

With flight modes the trim is set per flight mode so you can have different trims in each flight mode, or common trim across all flight modes.

I may have missed the pictures from FGNewbie of the cutting of the cowl to fit a DA 70 twin

Saw the mounting of the 70 pictures

Thanks

This is what I ended up with after putting the DA-70 in it. Just used standard mufflers and they required quite a bit of cutting. If I did it again I would get JTEC to sweep the exhaust back towards the gear and it would look real clean.

Thanks, I should do that but I’m not sure that I want to remind them of their loss.

Rotating the carb on a Saito FG61-TS

Just to let anyone know that turning the carb around to eliminate the airlock problem is a fairly straightforward job on the Xcub, the only problem is if you use the stand offs that come with the cub the fuel inlet is very close to one of them and requires a bit of modification.
