LOL, you don't give up Pete.

I do have a suggestion for the next build. We will show it off at Joe Nall.

*** NEWS FLASH ***
Matthew Morrell flew his J'TECH 3.1m competition series against a field of 9 or was it 10 ? IMAC pilots in the Intermediate class at the Salinas Area Modelers event to a flawless 1000 point win, in up to 27 mph winds.
Way to go Matthew!
Al. Your going to need a " trophies " section in the online gallery pretty soon

Thanks Brian! Nice flying yourself! I had a blast at the Salinas IMAC. It was cool to see Warren Wilson there too! Can't wait to see your 3.1m when it's done!!

Yeah, Matt's an awesome pilot. His 3.1m JTEC 300 CS is awesome also. Love those nav lights. Good to meet you Matt. And, Brian, ...and Matt's dad, Phil, ...Dave, Don, Mickey, Joe, and all the others. Thanks for calling for me Don. Was a windy contest, but I had a great time flying with you guys. See many of you at Anderson.

Looking thru the new AMA magazine and see Kevin's picture with the 2014 team, nice win ! Must have been a great experience, good work Kevin.

Wondering how others are placing in IMAC events with their 3.1cs, any good news?

Hi Guys,
I've been lurking here for some time - always looking for the next better plane So far I've concluded:
-Kit is excellent and easier to assemble than Dalton or Carden
-Design is geared toward precision flying
-Folks like the way it flys

What I'd really like to hear are some meaningful flight reports. Phrases like: "flies great", "will do any trick in the book", "best plane I've ever had", don't do anything for me. I'd like to hear detailed opinions on good and bad characteristics related to IMAC flying. For example: "difficult to keep wingtip from dropping prematurely when entering a spin", "snaps stop crisply with nose on heading", "yaws into a crosswind the proper amount with rudder input seldom needed"

Thanks,
Dan

I find it hard to give you the answers you want Dan due to the fact that this is a kit and a lot of how it will fly depends on how good a builder you are. If you take your time and make sure that you make both wing the same weight and that every thing is straight and true I sure that you will find this to be one of the best planes around. I know that it is early days with mine but it fly s and presents very very well.

Dan, obviously we are going to be quite biased about the airplane but if you do have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

To help answer your question a bit, at least in my experience, spin entries tend to be straight forward stalls without favoring one side. I have seen it take customers a couple of times to learn how slow you can get the airplane and get that really nice pronounced stall for the spin entry (in all cases it was to high of an idle). As far as snaps they are extremely crisp with two servos and start and stop on a dime. I like to suggest the counter balanced ailerons which was an idea from Andrew Jesky. With the counter balanced ailerons you will be amazed how quick you can start and stop the snap. We have also found that it has reduced the amount of throw needed to produce great snaps. As far as yaw with crosswind and just flight tracking in general, I find that it requires much less rudder input then any airplane I have flown before. One of the areas I have really noticed the tracking is when pulling your radius to enter and exit a maneuver. I find there are a lot of airplanes out there that need a lot of rudder when pulling the radius.

I will tell you a couple of the comments that we do here quite a lot from our customers with both the 2.7m and 3.1m CS.

How crisp it does snap especially how fast it stops rotation when you want it to.
How well the airplane tracks and how little rudder input you have to use to keep it tracking straight.
There are a bunch of others but my mind just went blank, sorry!

Here is a picture of mine, I hope to have it pretty much wrapped up today.

Kevin

Is that your own style of headers for the 200 or is it just a spacer attached to DA headers? Need more drop?

Just curious...

Borrowed/stole the headers from AJ and needed some more drop so I took some of our DA-200 muffler flanges and made my spacers.

stainless is a whole different animal and the bender to do headers is quite a lot of money.

One wing complete ! Second one, like all things, should only take half the time.
