gas cans, what do you use?
So the can i got from Tractor supply, I just can not see through it at all. is there any known gas cans 1 or 2 gallons that can be seen through better to see the line for the fill mark and stuff.
I have a one gal but with this big 106 im thinking i might want to go to 2 gallons, Think she will drink lots of gas up. Just ordered a better mesuering cup thing today so be easier to mix my oil and gas together. |

I believe fuel cans are federally regulated for color and funnel. So something see through would not be an approved can. Atleast the way I under stand it. But I know what your saying. I usually get my can in the right light to see the shadow for fill level. A flashlight could help too.

I use a flash light pointed at the side of the can. That is about as high tech and accurate you can get. https://www.streamlight.com/en/produ...ex/stinger-led

Actually the cans are usually 1.25 gallon, and 2.25 gallon... so there's room for pre-mix oil and expansion... but we'll call them 1 and 2 gallon..
I use a 2 gallon to take to the field. I have a 1 gallon that I use for residual when the 2 gallon gets low.. When the 2 gallon gets low, I dump that residual into the 1 gallon, then I have a fresh empty 2 gallon jug to start a new mix.. after a day or two of flying when the 2 gallon runs down a bit, I then dump 1 gallon fuel back into the 2 gallon... and start the process all over. Between the 1 and 2 gallon(actually +.25 each), I have enough room to take a total of 3.5 gallons to any event. Plenty for a weekend. But yeah for any given day at the field I have a 2 gallon jug, and some days I can use quite a bit of that. ... flying 50 and 100cc planes. As for checking the level in those jugs... as mentioned a flashlight, or the sun... but I mean come on seriously..... If we have the skill to fly these planes, I'm hoping we can figure out how to easily check fuel levels... LOL. |

I noticed an advertisement for a can/pump set up somewhere in the back section of this months Model Aviation magazine(AMA mag). It was about 109 I think. It caught my attention.
Yeah, they can get up there in money. I still use a hand-crank pump, as my biggest tank is 32oz... If I get up to the 40oz-60+oz tanks, I'll probably look into a jug with a pump. 32oz takes about as much time to hand pump as I care to spend. |

I've been using a Jersey Modeler 2 gal fuel jug with manual pump for aboout 5 years now.. The best thing is that it seals vapor tight. I can leave it in my car overnight with no gas smell. It comes with an overflow tube that you connect to your planes vent and the other end goes into the fuel jug - no killing the grass.

I use the electric pump from MPI and build the tank myself. Other then the pump I had most of it laying around. I've been using this rig for about 3 years now and I have maybe $35 in it.
