Landing gear wires
Working on the landing gear wires using the Dubro turnbuckles. Very tedious job. Trying to get enough purchase on the turnbuckle threads and still have the right amount of adjustment to tighten the cable. Looks nice though when it's done. I used a "tee" pin through the hole in the barrel of the turnbuckle to hold it while I tightened the lock nut. I also used a dab of lock tite on the lock nut.
If there is any meaningful movement of the landing gear struts, I'm afraid it might strip the threads in the turnbuckles. The threads are a pretty loose fit. We'll see |

I didn't bother with the supplied clevis and threaded cable fitting, instead just crimped a loop in each end.
To ensure the cable was taught I loosened the upper bolt a few turns, pulled the cable as tight as possible before crimping it in place. tightening the upper bolt pulled the cable nice and tight. |

DLE 55 Accomodation?
I'm using a Laser - 300 V-twin in the yellow Fokker D-VII for now but I pre-drilled the firewall in case I wanted to switch to a more powerful DLE-55. In order to avoid cutting the cowl cheek, or buying a new muffler, I rotated the engine a few degrees. Is this "legal"? Meaning, does a slight rotation of the engine make any difference in performance? I may never make the change, but it's a departure from the vertical mounting in the book, inverted and rotated a bit. Comments, please?

I can't think of any reason why having the motor mounted at an angle would cause a problem.
Looks good to me. |

I'm looking at your photo #34 which shows the aileron servo extension coming into the fuse just under the wing strut. I am assuming you did the same thing on the other side. Is that correct? Can you show me where the servo extension goes into the upper wing center section.

Hi, the tachometer, seat, instrument panel, fuse-tubing are scratch,
most of the rest is kit parts from www.iflytailies.com pretty decent 3-D printed kit parts to correct scale. Just needed to trim, assemble and paint. DG |
