MAN, it seems you can't get anything good for long!

yesterday was flying the zdz and it looked like it was starting to loose power so I started to head towards the runway and the engine just died. I was able to safely dead stick land it and headed to investigate.

Upon finding the engine I noticed that the prop is not freely moving

So I packed up everything and went home and took the engine off. than I saw the right cylinder

Unbelievable only on the 2nd gallon running Penzoil Air Cool 2 stroke the right cylinder looks like it was running on SAND, the left cylidner seems to be fine. I had checked temps they engine never got over 175 in flight (telemetry) and on the ground it was at 240 once stopped, well within normal limits.

I don't know what happened, but I sent an image to troy built, there response ohh looks like overheat but they need me to send it in for zdz to review... So i'll be shipping it off.

Not sure to make of it, I have another NIB 180 I was going to put on another plane and now I"m not sure what to do.

That is ugly. Cylinder doesn't look pink but it obviously ingested something or got hot as heck.

I'd say you have faulty telemetry.

The other cylinder is fine, the cylinder wasn't even that hot to the touch.

I was thinking that as well since i had first hand experience with a 3w-106 that ate a needle bearing retaining pin and passed it from cylinder to cylinder and a large chunk was found wedged in the reed valve's. Destroyed that engine something good.

Do you have a photo of the temperature sensor install? I'm installing a system now and just wondering how others have their sensor mounted. I am using a looped wire held tightly by twisting.

Sorry for your lose! I have been watching closely to see how the zdz 180 was goiing to hold up. Can you show us the spark plugs. That would help show everyone how it was running.
