Inverted Exit Manuever

I think your way out of line on this one Curtis.
Your statement is miss leading.
The required inverted exit maneuver you are referring to is not only very dangerous, it also
contributes to "fly over" issues even more than a roller.
Allowing a CD to waive an all around dangerous maneuver and prevent fly over situations with the neighbors is nothing but
being smart.
Can't believe you have such a problem with this.
PS, it good to see that the sequence committee did away with the 90 degree roller this year all together. Good riddance to a very bad maneuver.

Good morning Steve. I think you need to take a second look at the Intermediate sequence for 2019. They actually have an inverted 90 degree one roll rolling turn as the last maneuver.

If you are referring to the "Alternate" sequence, then you are correct. However the normal sequence will be a disappointment for you.

Why does it seem like the roller is always the last maneuver... just make it in the middle of the sequence so the pilot can go right into a humpty. Just a thought to help out with the issue. If it is a issue with neighbors or airspace then the alternate should be used as the adv and unlimited rollers are much bigger

Kevin,

I think the adding a humpty to the end of a maneuver that has deemed very difficult for some of the intermediate community would compound the problem even further. I believe this is why they put it at the end of the sequence. I have to agree with Curtis, if the BOD really cared, they would not have let the sequence committee put the inverted exit in there again this year...

There are four possible iterations of the 90 degree roller permissible in Int: upright or inverted from the x to the y axis, or upright or inverted from the y to the x axis. Given that the 2018 int roller was y to x, the 2019 is an x to y version. Why inverted? It’s considered the more difficult of the two possibilities and will surely show up in unknowns. Placing it in the known allows pilots to become more comfortable with the figure since they will be practicing it all year. With respect to the exit, in 2019 a half outside loop up is permitted as a legal turn-around figure after a sequence ends inverted.
Intermediate is the first class where pilots are exposed to rolling turns. Given the complexity and difficulty of the maneuver, the ISC places them at the end of the sequence in order to introduce pilots to the figures without having them dramatically impacting any following figures.

I believe for 2019, a maneuver that was not previously allowed, will be allowed. That is an immediate push to half loop on exit.

The half loop can be done after one fuselage length, which is extremely short (hardly noticeable by judges). The push immediately gains safer altitude. And, it can be done in much less further travel outbound than other legal combination of turnaround maneuvers.

Previously, the plane needed to be rolled to up-right, before executing a half Cuban or a standard turn. That took the plane farther out.
