It says the plane is a total loss. I hope he was able to salvage the rabbits foot. That is one piece of equipment that worked well and may be needed again.

Glad it worked this time for him.

From what I understand these guys have their engines pretty highly tuned so I guess it's probably not completely unexpected that they may pop one occasionally as they experiment to see what gets them power. Though i'm sure they would do very considerable ground testing before giving them the ok for flight. I also imagine they would have pretty low time between overhauls.
