Between this and the guy who just built the Sig Cobra, it suddenly makes me want to glue balsa and burn some glow again.

Sure they are messy, but there is something neat about hauling 3-5 planes out for one session, especially when they all collectively cost less than one gasser.

I still have a fairly large collection of glo planes though they only go out to the field a few times each season. They aren't worth much to sell so I just keep them around .... and they were all kit or scratch built so they have sentimental value. Good, simple fun and a change of pace though I'm always anxious to get back to the gassers.

Yeah know what you mean Truck, This is actually my first / Second full scratch build so its a bit of fun , learning or what techniques work etc, Particularly in terms of covering. etc. and just refining some skills before i venture on to the EMHW Bellanca xxl

There is something about bigger gas planes, This QB 60 is a bit sentimental as always saw them in the Pilot catalogue as a boy and thought i want to make that

So Looks like the wing building will be some time off . The Spruce order is about 4 weeks from shipping out, So around 6 weeks id guess till ive got it.

But in the mean time ill get cracking on the Fuse covering. Plus i realized i forgot about the small balsa parts that goes on the top of the canopy and are shaped to suit.

Im awaiting my 1 meter long ruler to arrive so i can cut the covering nice and cleanly in one go! Was ment to come this week. but with any luck ill have it this week and can get onto the fuse.

So the idea is once then the spars arrive the ill be ready As long as i dont get distracted by the 36% Sbach assembly

Alright so now on to radio gear Installation and motor setup.

To keep the thrust like correct as I made the bearers for the engine I needed to add some 3mm aluminum to boost it up.

I think I’ll. Change out the mini servo to a full size for the throttle The mini is a pain to fit neatly and I’ll need some weight aft I think

I wouldn't have used a mini servo on a plane with a thumping 4 stroke. Looking very nice.

Push rods now made up, not glued in the pics, but have expoxied and will loop some CA wicked cotton string around a few times to ensure it never comes out the Rod also is recessed into the oak dowels

Rudd and elev horns installed and stab covering in the centre removed ready for glueing.

After I wrap my pushrods, I put some heatshrink over the ends. Overkill probably.
