So I had to be different and run a Neu on my EF extra. I know, I know.

Needed a mount, so I whipped this up.

Machined plugs from 5/8" aluminum stock to slip into .500" O.D. fiberglass tubes. Threaded them 1/4-20 and JB welded them into the tubes. Made a front plate out of some G-10 and bolted it all up.

Worked out pretty good, no flex. Weighs 6 oz with the bolts, I may go to hex head on the front, the socket heads come really close to the back of the spinner. I'll install some air scoops on the sides when I get around to that part.

I got these from ACP Composites, pretty sure they have carbon, too. This fiberglass is really tough stuff, carbon is, well, carbon. It would have been lighter, but I don't think I'm going to have to worry much about being nose heavy.

You can get 1/4-20 LOW HEAD socket head cap screws as well. They are about half the height of a regular style.

Hey, thanks for the heads-up, didn't know that. These were just what I had, I never really thought about hitting the back of the spinner. I'll get something worked out by the time I get finished.

In fact, I was worried about hitting the back of the drive collet with the screws that mount the gearbox. You can see a socket head screw in the end of the gearbox shaft, that's just a spacer to make sure I cleared those screw heads with the drive collet. Then I mount it all up and it's the main bolts that are even closer.

I have lower head screws for the gearbox, I'll look into the one's you mentioned for the mount.

If you want to mount a spinner, get yourself an Axi prop adaptor. That is what I use with my set-up. It fits perfect on the shaft " 8mm" , it has two set screws and works great. You use a 4mm allen head bolt for the spinner.

What part is 5mm? My shaft from the gearbox is 8mm, and the part that goes into the prop is 10mm.

Edit: I have a dog similar to yours.

Can't wait to see what your result is with the 1521.

FWIW, I think you need to so something to support the motor from the back.

My mistake, I meant to say 8mm. I had an Axi 5330 that came with a shaft mount prop adaptor included with the motor mounted prop adaptor, that I never used and checked to see if it would fit the shaft on my Neumotor. I think you should get this Axi prop adaptor.

Bonedoc may be right about supporting the back of the motor. On two of my Neumotor installations I had to support the rear with a home made brace that I fashioned out of aluminum. I guess it will depend on how big of a prop you'll be using and how much torque is applied to the motor mount when you go WOT.

I can kind of see it both ways.I mounted up a 28X10 Bolly (not going to use that, I'll fly with a 24x10 or 24x12) and picked the plane up by the prop and shook it around to check for flex. It didn't flex. However, fixing the back of the motor can will put strain on the motor front housing joint if the assembly does flex. With the motor can free there's no bending moment on that joint other than the weight of the motor. And since the motor bolts to the gearbox, it's not going to unscrew.What was the failure mode that caused you to support the rear of your motor? I have a few Neu powered planes and usually don't bother with supporting the rear.
