I decided to install a DA120 (for large glider towing) with cans in my Decathalon. I'm working on strengthening the motor box and increasing the firewall thickness. Thus far I removed the lower balsa tri-stock and fabricated some 3mm lite ply doublers for the inside of the tank compartment. Gluing them in now with 30 min epoxy.

Id be Sticking with a 85cc , Buy the time you allow for all the extra weight of the twin plus the canisters and headers, Your extra Thrust from the 120 wont be much more than the 85,
Ive gone though this same idea. Remember if its heavy its gonna fly fast and not really be super enjoyable. But I get you pulling big gliders, But this thing can fly with a 30cc engine and hover just with a a 50cc and 85 is a great choice. I was going to use and 85cc in one, but then brought the EMHW Bellanca XXL kit as its a 35% Have fun buddy. |

DA 120 is a lot for that size/ weight. DA 70 would be fine. You want a 120 for the 30 lb plus triangle racers.
There was a 32% in the classified with a DLE 85. I’m buying both. Not sure if I’ll set it up for tow. |

the 85 is the only engine in their line up that I haven't played with. I will be pleasantly surprised if it isn't a shaker...but it is a big single and comes with a soft mount. pitts muffler for it is $200. Ug.

I've flown a DLE85 for several years. Mine is mounted solid on standoffs w/o the provided soft mount and it runs very smooth. Smoother than several smaller engines I've had. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how well it runs.

I’ll have pics of my Da 70cc install when I get back home from work - went well and I’m happy with how it turned out!
