Help!
Hangar 9 Airplanes

In the past I have purchased a few hangar 9 planes and had very little problems with them, I have had to reinforce a couple of firewalls and chose not to use some of the hardware that comes the plane.

I have heard though the grapevine that Hangar 9 planes are now made by the same company who makes seagull planes. I have not bought a Hangar 9 plane recently but I was advised the quality of the kits are not what they use to be and you still pay allot for them.

I wanted to get myself a brand new 100cc 3D model and i wanted to find out if anyone knows much about the Extra 300X and what there thoughts are. I know there are other brands to chose from but you have to pay really high freight costs to get them sent and i am talking in the range of $1,000 + and that does not include duty.

The 300X was discontinued. The factory that built them closed down.

H9 has made some great planes, but there have also been some big BUSTS (Hangar9 P3 Revolution 60cc is top of mind) in more recent years...

Speaking only for myself, if I was looking into a 100cc ARF acrobat, I would look no further than Extreme Flight or AJ Aircraft, or perhaps the SkyWing line now carried by SupaTim at NorthwestRC.

H9 quality definitely took a huge dip a few years ago. They seem to have to have gotten much better lately. Everything in the past year that I’ve seen has been of good quality. The 30cc stick, WWI bipe, XCub, Timber and many others are of good quality. The Big Sukhoi is back in production too. Sadly the 300x is gone.

The only knock I have in H9 is that the planes seem to come out a bit heavy.

For giant scale 3D I don’t think there is a good H9 offering today. Check out Extreme Flight/3DHS, AJ Aircraft, Pilot, Skywing, PAU. If you are in Europe you might try Multiplex. It’s German made and they have a great Extra 330.

Horizon has a few different places make their arfs. I've had allot of their arfs. All been pretty good in the past few years. Don't let it stop you if the price is right.

It is my understanding “through the grapevine” that hangar 9 has been using the Seagull factory for YEARS! Way longer than the recent issues people have seen. They also use the same factory as some of the other major brands out there...

I am based in New Zealand and there is an limited market out there . Don't get me wrong you can at certain times pick up really good second hand planes. The closest place to get Extreme flight and Aj's from is Australia. Not that their to blame but the shipping from Australia to New Zealand is really high. I have seen Goldwing models around from time to time, at the moment if you go new you have the choice of Inverza 62, Hangar 9 Extra 300X or 50cc Seagull Extra.

It may be worth calling on AJ or Chris H. directly to see if there might be another shipping option for you that might be more accommodating.

They are both great companies to communicate with.

Did you really say that this model the Inverza 62 is commercially available? It has been discontinued here for years .
