thanks for sharing that pic Judge.
Its going to be interesting for this price range in TX's this year.
The Jeti DS-24 with color screen and now the 18SZ.
Good time to be in the market for a new radio.

Agree, finally. This is just what I've been wanting to be released, a Futaba to replace my FG12. No need for a Jeti.

To be clear, the 18MZ, while filling the gap between the 14SG and 18MZ, is not based on the 12FG and resembles that radio only in being in the "gap" as it were. Not directed at you Rate1, but I have started seeing people make assumptions about the 18SZ as if it were based off the 12FG, which it is not.

Another bit of news I heard is that the 18MZ files will be compatible with the 18SZ. Not sure about the 14SG or not.

Judge, I hear you. Allthough I dont care much on what radio It is based upon, I care for an up range radio with nice gimbals, without going all the way paying 3000 dollars. I belive this 18SZ will fit nicely between the 14ch and current flagship.

Nope 14SG files won't talk to the 18SZ and MZ files without conversion software. Don't know if Futaba are interested in you being able to do that since the SZ and MZ are built on a different software platform I'm told.

Just repeating what I heard from a person who knows about the radio.
It will accept 18MZ files, it probably does not accept 14SG files. Makes sense.

The 18MZ and 14SG cannot talk to each other, so it would be unlikely that the 18SZ could talk to both. Of the two, the 18MZ makes the most sense since it appears they have very similar programming capabilities.

Correct. This radio is more 12Z replacement than 12FG.
