Yeah they sell quick! I snatched one up last week from EF as soon as they got them in. Now they are Out of stock again. Crazy

No engine could be better!
My best engine for now, it's pulling a 33% H9 Sukhoi out of the skies (and I'm still holding on a Carbon Falcon 25x8W)!

by the way, my static prop reading is 6800 RPMs at 3000ft MSL using Falcon 25x8W, i'd like to see on 25x9, probably awesome again.

4 gallons thru my engine, can't belive what's going to happen after break in period..

So, very nice engine!

Is that a typo? 25x9 prop getting 7650 rpms??

3 .5 gallons through mine and ripping carbon falcon 24x9. I will be trying a 25x9 here soon though.

I have done another 12-15 flights with the Falcon 25x9
On the ground, its consistently hitting 6950 before takeoff.
In the air, on short speed level speed runs, its hitting 7650-7700.

I haven't really spent a lot of time at high rpm. I am having to manage the head temps too much.
Its not the engine. Its the silly cowl on the EF MXS. The inlets are stupidly small, and quite far apart.
I open the outlet a lot since change from gp61. But the first two baffles designs with the stock inlet opening weren't giving enough air.
Just working on a new baffle design that will double the inlet area.

Falcon 25x9 feels good. Have a Falcon 25x8W and Mej 25x9 on hand to try soon.

Neil4 here on FG makes awesome baffles for the MXS and other models.

cravenjw,I had the same problem with a Aeroplus Edge with the two small holes for air-intake.Had a DA70 in it,with baffles made from 1/4" hobby foam, stopping just in front from top to bottom of cylinders.I still had heat problems, just couldn't keep it cool enough with the small holes for air coming in.Finally just pulled the engine and replaced it with a 60 single.Maybe Neil4 baffles work better, good luck.

I bought the plane used. The previous owner had a DA70. He had heat temp telem. He had issues keeping the DA as cowl as he typically would get in other planes. He had baffles made from Styrofoam cups.

I ran a GP61 in it with no issues, until i acquire the GP76.

I put a bit of time into making 3d printed baffles, and also an outlet lip. But after a couple of revisions, i am sure i just need to open up the inlets significantly. My MXS is a beater and cowl is a mess! So, cutting it up more is not an issue.

I designed many of the baffles that Neil sells.

Especially with the MXS cowl and baffles, it is not intuitive at all so I used CFD (FlowSim and Fluent) to analyze the air flow. I assumed 100 FPS air flow rate and the goal was to direct much of the flow to the hottest part of the cylinder head. The airfoil that you see in the baffle was used to do that.

My cowl is real beat up after 3 dif engines.
Original inlets were full of epoxy for precious owner and i have modded them again.

If/when i order a new cowl, i might order a set your baffles. Definitely will keep in mind for future planes.

I opened the inlets into tear drop.

After seeing pics of your pic, i like the vane to keep the flow on the end of the head. I have been testing a few variations for fit today. Left baffle has test vanes.
