Google Dare Design B-17, EAM Bomber, Cedar Hobbies B-17
These I think are all in the 70"-100" range. Wingspan models also has a 1/12 scale that is around 100".
Bomber field guys are all going to be flying the Westcraft 120"+ planes.

We sold a Westcraft about 4 years ago. Great looking if you wanted to take the time to scale it out.

I want that Wingspan Models 1/6th scale... It says it can come in at under 100 pounds, so the AMA would still insure it.

Re: looking for a B-17 model can someone help....

My friend built one of these.
http://www.darehobby.com/airplanes/a...flyingfortress

http://www.darehobby.com/airplanes/i...g_Fortress.gif

Took him 2yrs to build it. It's a box of 1/16" sticks and 1/32" sheeting. Took him another year to muster the courage to fly it. He's not the best pilot. He knows it, so he asked me to do the maiden flight for him. I told him it was no problem. Then he decided it would be better if I did the maiden for him while he was on a buddy box. Again, no problem buddy. Whatever you need me to do. I'm here to help you. When we got to the field on the big day, he got cocky because there was 200 people watching him. He decided he didn't need my help (foolish pride) and told me he didn't want to buddy box it. He was going to do the maiden flight on his own with no help from me. I reminded him of his poor track record with maiden flights. He's wrecked every plane on maiden flight except his LT-40 and that was 10yrs ago. Every other plane, he wrecks it. Some are rebuildable, some are totaled. He told me that he would be fine and didn't want my help. So I said that I would just stand next to him and help if I could.

Took him 1 minutes and 37 seconds to crash it on the maiden flight. He throttled back to about 35% power on his downwind leg because "It was going to fast," and when he turned back into the headwind, he had no thrust. He got hit with a headwind and the plane stopped dead in it's tracks. Left wing fell over and it spiraled into the ground.

He still has the engines and planetary gear units. If you are interested in the plane and want those motors and gear sets, let me know and I'll see if he wants to sell them. I'm sure he would sell them because he has no intention of ever building the plane again.

I wish I knew more about these kits.... maybe Don Smith plans???? not sure....

I've seen the guy every Labor Day for the past couple of years. They are pretty big though, larger than the 100" that you are looking for...
