Sheared hub keys and changed timing are not unknown on DA engines...One of the modified race twins sheared the key, the hub and prop came off, hit the ceiling, and bounced....Apparently the DA key is hardened steel, but no guarantee...DO NOT stand in front of the engine.....In all fairness to DA, the modified engine was turning over 8000 and putting out mega HP when the hub came off, and turned way in excess of that just after...Didn't seem to hurt anything....

quite a few pages back it was mentioned that you can have two settings for idle and control it by a switch on the tx...how would that be accomplished? i have a dx8 would that be possible with that tx?

havent used a dx8......my 12x has a throttle hold setting, so i use it.......my 9303 didnt have the throttle hold option so i just did a throttle to throttle mix on a switch. set up your mix so flipping the switch gives you 0 throttle throughout the throttle curve. like i said, not sure if its possible with a dx8

well thats the way I tune my engine (dle55)

I start closing the low needle till engine will hesitate or die as I advance the throttle. Then I open low end till engine wont hesitate and open a tiny bit more. (When engine is cold it might hesitate).

Then I tune the high needle for maximum rpm on the ground - go fly. If engine will sag on a long upline I might try to open a little the high. If the prop won´t unload I might try opening the high needle to see if that helps.

My engine is not the easiest starting, but it runs clean, no burble spool up is good and max static rpm are where they should be (23/8 6900). Spark plug is ashbrown.

I have seen that most of you start with the High needle - I am not shure why, maybe someon will be so kind and explain me.

Well, I tried this but all I could get it to do is "cut" the throttle. Once I hit the switch the throttle stick is no longer effective. What I need to do is have a flight idle and an approach/landing idle. Would that be the throttle to throttle mix you spoke of?

thats right, throttle to throttle mix should give you what youre looking for. the throttle will still function with a mix. you'll have to break the manual out to figure that as well and play with it to set a curve. I misunderstood what you were trying to do.

The engine will start and run with the high needle completely closed if the low needle is open too far...If you set the high needle rich first the low needle will not have to overcompensate and be too rich, leading to burbling in the mid range....

Second tank on my new dle55 (redline 1:32). I tried highend tuning today. On XOAR 22 3DA I'm getting ~7000 rpm. Transitions are smooth so did not touch low end. Idle around 1700-1800 (didn't try going below it). My problem is on ground I can see the rpm change for range of throttle stick (except for last 20% may be) but once in air I seem to be getting full power in around 30% of stick movement. Engine seems to be responding slow to my inputs (lag in response). what could be the solution? Thanks.
