Re: ARF Scale Aerobatics Racing idea?

Hey I sell ARFs that will work for this! The 50% Edge is perfect!

Hey when I read that someone wanted to know how the pilot was in the drawing, I scrolled back up to the post to see what they were talking about. As soon as I saw the drawing I thought to myself..... "That's Frazer"! Duck feet and all!

Haha, yeah mate - 50% Edge would be fantastic, especially if you get two of them racing at the same time!

Looks good buddy, we should do it .... of course you would have to buy a model for the event wouldn't you ..... actually come to think of it so would I

Would be interesting to hear what people think would be good aircraft for this ... ie 40-55 size class, 50cc class etc??

What would make good pylons?? Probably need something durable ... perhaps not the existing pattern poles!!

Re: ARF Scale Aerobatics Racing idea?

Yeah it should be a bit of fun... won't be hard to run but of course I will have to buy a model!!! I rekon about a .60 size model would be the ideal size, any bigger and it just gets too expensive if you have a prang (which WILL happen!) Nothing stopping a 50cc or larger taking part, it sure will be entertaining watching Taylor pulling out of a reverse cuban 6m off the deck!

Initiallly I thought the F3A flag poles would do the trick, it doesn't matter what they are made of as any model will be in pieces if they hit! the far flag won't really be at risk of a collision but the close one will I suspect... it can probably be a long stick of bamboo or something as it just has to mark a point and have a flag at a certain height.

If a suitable handicap system is in place there is no need for different classes which opens it up to small ectric models against 50% Edge 540's! might take a good scoring probram to work it out but I can look into that. oh and I'd love to see it open to Heli's as well!

Reno Racers would be the way to go!

Sounds good, pylon racers might be ok .... do they do simple aeros ok?

Otherwise these Yaks (or similar) would be the business ... you can get one EMS'd to your door step with a DLE55 engine for $1300 kiwi, think it might be my next model .... and pylon racer!!

Yeah pylon/Reno Racers would be ok, just got to be scale! I want to see some warbirds pulling the big loop at the end with smoke on 6' off the deck! would look good to have two P47's going up at once - heck we could even throw in a third to make it more interesting!

Alec - I'm still yet to see you fly a heli upside down so think aero racing is still a long way off for you mate!

Oh and yeah full size could be permitted - they are scale... ARF or RTF either is good!

actually yeah big long streamers could be good in place of smoke... but you have to fly at least three planes at once and of course the one with the longest streamer wins!
