World models Extra 330L Eng change

I Kiwi flyers I am in the process of changing my World models Extra 330 l from a Super Tiger 90 glow to a 26cc petrol.
Now here is the question.
Would I have to add more thust on the fire wall and will the fire wall be strng enought to hold this heaver motor?. Its twise the weight of the 90!
I have been flying model aircraft for 23 years and I have never touched a pertol engine. I am looking forward to it. Mainly due to the running cost of glow feul and having a young famliy to suppport.
Any help or advise would be good.
I have an scratch build Ultamate that has a 1600mm wing span if the extra goes alright I will be putting a 50cc in the Ultamite bi. Is 50cc too big for the wing span?.

First of all,as the far I know ,you will probably have to strengthen and secure your fire wall more than it is now and also put some rafters straight form the fire wall into the fuselage (something until the middle of it,because of the powerful engine that it won't break the rest of the fuselage) ,I'm a 100% sure that you would have more vibrations that you had with your super tiger 90 so take it in a count.
I think that a twice heavier engine for that plane would not be such good idea because it might not fly very good!you would have to add a lot of back weight to your plane and it might be unstable while flying ,but a 26 cc is pretty strong to take your Extra straight to the air-and so,I don't know if it would be effective to replace your engine, one the one hand you change your engine to a stronger one but on the other hand, you have to add a lot of weight..

about the question about the Ultimate,I don't know to answer it,but look here http://www.theworldmodels.com/para/p...airplaneid=123
they recommend a 50 cc for a 1600mm wing span ,so it might be good for you.(also an Ultimate!)

*And if I ain't right on something just let me now,I want to learn too!
glad to help and if there are any other questions...just ask,
Or

Yes firewall needs to be secured better. Make a mix of fibre or carbon tow and epoxy. What I do is use 2os minimum cloth and cut it with scissors into a conainer. Then just randomly cut whats in container with the points of scissors. Mix more epoxy than estimated required amount. Mix cut cloth into epoxy but you want a fairly dry mix as epoxy has no tensile strength by itself. With your finger or plastic spoon. RAM it in the corners of firewall and fuse preferably on both sides. You can get quite a smooth finish. I also suggest you pin firewall and servo tray.

Alot of people / manufacturers use triangle balsa for Fire wall and U/C. Take a note of the grain direction...... Easily broken. In theory looks strong but weak. Balsa is also deemed as a hard wood due to the molecular properties. Alot of manufacturers now use Polinia as a substitute for balsa. I wish the Polinia on my section was straight as I could of go it peeled into required thickness and sanded LOL

Just remembered that someones World models extra or cap exploded in mid air doing a snap roll. Check the structural integrity whilst modifying it

I don't really have jack experience with petrol at the mo. I personally would say it would be fine. The modern radios are more interference free than the older AM ones. Just try to keep the RX as far away from the engine as possible. Also I'd see if the spark plug is suppressed or not.
If you can't get enough weight at the front get a boss nut made of brass. This will afftect spool up and spool down depending on how much weight is required to correct.
