What are the upswept wing tips on the full scale designed to do? What benefits do they provide? Haven't seen any R/C model Extras with them yet, wondering if they are useful for our application or not.

Thanks,
Pete
That's a good question Pete. The full scale is the 330 LT that has a hatch in the turtle deck to hold luggage for traveling. I wonder if the tips are for looks. I think the intent for this aircraft is for the guy that wants to do some aerobatics but mostly uses it as a light touring plane.
They sure do enhance the looks of the plane. I should have added that to the model, now Iíll just have to start a new kit.

The colors look even better in person vs the pictures. Nice work on this one Jerry!

The tips are to help with speed. As Jerry mentioned, this is the fast touring plane... And if you go to the extra aircraft.com website you'll see that they count this as one of the fastest single-engine touring planes available.

The tips are similar to the MXS and what you see on the Red Bull Air Race.

On similar models, they slow the roll rate. If you notice that the ailerons don't go to the end of the wing, but the tips do... I have them on my EF MXS and they definately affect the roll rate.

Does that mean Kevin and I are honary "Rednecks" now ? LOL

Jerry,

I know you have spent more time on the covering than the build. I really don't think there a nicer looking plane out there. I can tell you honestly that you have done us proud with your build thread and outstanding covering job.

You can bet Kevin and I will be there for its first flight.

I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR US!!!!! YOUR ARE AN OUTSTANDING FRIEND

He said: " You need to learn how to spell in Red-Neck. yee haw. Need a new airplane soon anyhow".

I was raised in California but have lived in Virginia for the past 20 years so I can understand and translate redneck.

I don't think I'll get to fly this weekend. I have not worked on the plane this week. I ran into some issues at work and it has taken all of my time.

Maybe you can call NASCAR and have them postpone the Daytona 500 for a few weeks so I can finish the plane.
