My family owned airplanes for many years. A 1952 Cessna 170B for almost 25, a 1958 Cessna 172 for a few years, a 1947 Model 35 Bonanza for a few years, and a 1941 Aeronca 65 TAC project for a spell.
I really want the 170 back very badly, and hope to buy it sooner rather than later. It was sold to a gentleman in New York State in 2008 and someone from our home field bought it last year. Incidentally, the Bonanza we owned is at the same field, showing up two weeks after the 170 was sold. We sold the Bonanza in 1991 and owned it and the 170 at the same time (my father inherited the 170) when we were living in northern Virgina and had the airplanes based in Maryland. I know RJ Gritter's stepmother also owns a 1952 Cessna 170B as well. |

And here is RJ's stepmother's airplane. I believe her airplane has a Doyn conversion with a Lycoming O-340, our airplane had the stock C-145-2 that it left the factory with.
I'm a little nutty with 170s, if you can't tell. ![]() |

Any Aircraft Owners?
I owned a Piper Arrow for 12 years. Daughter need heart surgery and we needed some cash for the co-pay. Loved it while it lasted.

I'm the toy flyer of the family. Brother owns a T28, a C 195, and a C 321. He flies the B-25 for the museum of flight in Washington and donated his Beech D 18 to the museum. Dad has a C 172 with a 180hp upgrade. At one time they shared a C 185 that went from wheels when it was down here and floats when up north. Every time someone talks about how expensive RC is I start laughing. T 28 consumes 50 gal/hr. Dad is a CFIIFR and gave me free lessons but I was always afraid I'd wind up as a news story.

I got a flight in a Navion once. Cool airplane with a character all it's own! I'll never forget the burnt rubber smell from the front tire when it retracted into the fuse and rubbed to a stop. Don't know if yours did that, or just the one I got to fly. Love the paint on yours BTW. Sorry you sold it!
