DA70 - PowerBox SmartSwitch Pro

Is anyone using the PowerBox SmartSwitch Pro with a DA70, or any other DA engine? Any issues?

I don’t know who told you that, the DA ignition’s are not finicky. Use the TechAero IBEC.

That's what I'm currently using, but obviously I would like to hear if others have had any issues using the PB SpartkSwitch Pro. It has the advantage of providing RPM for a DA engine.

Forget the DA ignitions are finicky. All I want to know is if others are successfully using the PB Sparkswitch Pro with a DA engine. That is the sole purpose of the thread.

Just for you. Now if I can just get a few answers from people using the SparkSwitch PRO, it would be helpful.

Thank you Barracuda for your answer to my question.

I use the spark switch pro on a DA 70, it's fine apart from:

The only issue I have is the RPM pickup sensor for ignitions without tachometer output doesn't work on my DA 70.

I tested it on a DLE and it worked fine.

Ugh...you wrecked my day . That's the main reason I wanted to use it over the tech-aero I've been using. It doesn't make sense that it can't pick up the current spike on the ignition wire going to the spark plug. Seems like that current spike is similar whether on a DA or DLE. Oh well, I have all the parts so I'll try it on mine and let you know.

Yeah, sorry....
That's why I bought it as well, I tried their support forum, someone was supposed to be posting pictures of a working installation but so far nothing yet, there's also a post about it not working on a DA 120 there.
I thought maybe the pickup was faulty so moved it all to a DLE but it worked fine.

DA doesn't use the same "kind" of ignition sensor that DLE does. I believe the DLE uses a Haul Effect sensor (like a contact closer) and DA uses a voltage generated output to trigger the ignition.
Two different concepts.

This particular rpm sensor wraps around the ignition cable going to the spark plug to pick up the current spike. It isn't based on the sensor.
