I’m an intermediate pilot looking for a wide flight envelope, easy flying tail dragger. I was considering the RV4 before I stumbled on this. How does the Tiger 30cc stack up against the H9 Van’s RV4? How do the flight characteristics compare? Ease of build? Pos/Cons. Any comments would be appreciated. I’ll be using the DLE35RA.
Has anyone flown both? Which is more forgiving? Are They both constant chord wings?
My thing is touch and goes and landings. Can't get enough of them. LOL

DLE makes a 35RA which will fit in the Tiger. The DLE 30 is side exhaust and does not fit in the tiger.

been a while, but we maidened the Tiger today. Per the manual, I put in close to 3/4 lb of lead in the nose, and most of it came out after a few flights. It was down to 5 oz when we packed up (prop strike) and I suspect a bit more can come out.

It's a bit surprising to read that the manual recommends adding 3/4 lb of weight in the nose to balance the model. I am encouraged however to read that you were able to remove most following couple flights.

Looking forward to further updates with pictures.

Tiger 30CC

I have been flying a Tiger 60 for 15 years. It's one of the best flying planes I have ever had (in 35 years).
Was excited to see Hanger 9 offering the 30CC version.
Just received and started working on one
Was thinking of putting a DLE 55RA in it. Discovered it will take too much modification to make it work.
Instead, I put a Moki 2.10 (nitro) engine in it. This should haul it around nicely!
Construction of this ARF is excellent. The cowl is fiberglass but is a bit thin.
It promises to be a great flyer like the 60 size.

Tiger 30CC

Moki 2.10 (34.4cc) is a good fit.

Plane flies very well and required minimal trim changes on maiden flight. The only negative is the tail wheel. It is ineffective while trying to taxi with wind blowing at 8-10 mph. I will be replacing it with a larger, pull-pull setup with carbon fiber bracket.

A friend is getting one and a DLE-35 for it. I will be setting it up for him, it looks like a really fun plane. I like the wood blocks in the motor mount plate, that is very stout. Judging from the comments on C/G, I will keep that in mind for battery placement etc, so any other lessons learned, please pass on.

gary, it was a very straightforward and uneventful build. the aileron and flap rods were a hair undersized and would not thread properly into the clevises. not sure if they got that fixed or not. if not, I just used Dubro 4/40 rods. the firewall goes all the way back for the 35RA. keep the batteries forward and you should be fine. have fun!

Looking at my spares drawer, I have a ton of ball links and titanium turnbuckles from previous planes so I will probably use those in some form!

It is huge! This is the wing half compared to my 104 Extra.

Another pic of 1/2 of the wing! I’ll set it up with flaps, so this should land like a big foamie.
