Unknown L-4 Grasshopper 111"

I got this plane at an estate sale the other day. It looks like an ARF.

It has a 2-piece wing with a total span of 111". The L/R pieces are 52" each and attach to the fuselage by 4 X 10-32 bots, with no wing tube involved (or holes for one.)

Weight is around 12-13 lbs with no engine, which must have been a side-mounted glow plant.

Any information on it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Perhaps correct, here is a link to a 1/4 scale Balsa USA kit that looks very similar

Its not a Hempel for sure. Firewall is different.

Also looks like the gear is on backwards.

The firewall looks too aged to be anything recent, also it was set up on glow fuel.

I called Balsa USA today. They had an L-4 version of the 1/4 Cub years ago that was discontinued. The wingspan and the way the wings attach to the fuselage are similar to their kit. So I will go with this kit in mind. CG is 4" from the leading edge, which is the most critial part.

Thanks for your input.

The gear does look backwards. The deceased owner had floats for this plane, so I guess the gear was put on backwards after a change over by his family.

Thanks.
