I believe he is also referring to the Shroud, manufactured by Henry Piorun, In Canada.

I should add, I have this in two airplanes, and in both, the rear cylinders run cooler than the front two.

Never quite understood the need for a shroud when the top of the cowling (on an Extra) does that job well, as long as the the horizontal baffle and rear baffle are done properly.

A quick pic of my progress on my DLE Quad (222). This is my first baffle for a quad and also using a material other than foam.

It was a pain getting the outlines cut, but it looks pretty good. I will cut/fit the sides of the baffle to the lower canopy this afternoon.

I’m moving slow, but getting there.... Still trying to decide/determine if I need to shroud the baffle?

A little more progress, taking longer than anticipated... I think I will just build a firewall right in front of the cone which should then eliminate the need for a shroud.

How is the baffling material mounted to the cowling? Did you glue the baffling to the lower part of the cowl? I'm curious as I'll be doing something similar in my krill.

I had a DA 200 in a Hangar 9 Suhkoi W/O any baffles and had zero problems here in sunny Tucson but on an Extra or similar I'd be more hesitant. It would likely prolong engine life to run baffles.JM2$

There will be two mounts on the firewall that I will complete tomorrow which will bolt to the cone, then there will be two screws on each side of the baffle attaching it to a mount that will be glued to the lower cowl under the baffle. I will also have a screw inboard of each air inlet. So there will be 8 attachment points in total.

I will take more pics of the mounts as I build them and progress through this project.

Out of curiosity, did you have telemetry on each cylinder? I would be interested in the temp difference between front and back with no baffles.

Thought I would share some pics of the baffles on my Endeaver. I bought this plane from someone who use to participate in Giant scale pylon racing. I was impressed with the build quality and the looks.

I am refreshing/updating it now with new servos, fuel tank and plumbing along with updating the Zenoah G80 to electronic ignition.

The baffles are really cool...

Yep, I learned in USRA racing baffles look about right for racing. There really isnt any goo dreason to change to EI that I can think of. It won't land at idle if you use a race prop. Very slick airframe, does it have a registration sticker on it? who did you get it from?

Sparky,

I bought it from a guy in S. FL, I also bought his Nemesis that was Frank Tiano’s.

I don’t see registration stickers on either..

As for the Endeavor, going to EI should lighten the airframe while providing an easier starting experience plus I then pickup an electronic kill vs. mechanical. Not sure of prop yet, but I bought it for the looks and plan on just sport flying.
