Question
Short tutorial on electric motor timing required

I have been looking at the specs on some of the bigger electric outrunner motors and some quote the timing on them others don't. For instance on the Hacker A100-8 and A100-10 the timing is 22 deg. I have acquired Turnigy ca120, but there is no information or manual for it. For example the default setting on my HobbyWing ESC OPTO is 15 deg (range 0-30deg) . Is it a matter of experimentation with no hard and fast rules?
Thanks.

Timing Explained for Brushless Motor and ESC's (12 min 56 sec)

Well I found this clip on youtube which explains very well the general questions I have about timing. Well worth a look if you interested in that sort of thing. The guy also does other clips which drill further into the subject.
