Evolution 26GX lipo battery

I have purchased the 26GX, my first gas engine. Can someone tell me what size of 2-cell lipo I should use? i.e. How long a 1200 or a 2000 mah would last in flight.

Thanks in advance

I use a 2600 Lion, but never really checked per flight usage, other than with a 2600 my receiver batts, also a 2600 run down before the ignition. It's in a pattern plane, so the receiver batt doesnt see high drain loads. I would say anything in the 1500 to 2800 range.
If your plane is the type - this engine will treat you well if you can run the "tuned silencer" they offer for it, other than i am really not a fan of the heder that comes with it.

I have put the 26GX in a Seagull model SparrowHawk. I plan to use a 3300 mah Nimh 5 cell Rx battery. I have some 2000 mah 2-cell lipos I can use for the ignition.

Also, just saw that you said first gas engine. Something to keep in mind with this engine as far as starting so you dont get frustrated. The intended method of starting is to flip flip flip with the choke closed. The opening on this choke plate is larger than other engines. Large enough that the engine can actually run for a few seconds. Idea being that in those few seconds you advance the throttle and the self releasing choke plate pops open and all is well. Proplem I have found is that it has a hard time at least in my setup initially drawing the fuel to the carb due to the larger hole in the choke plate. So I use the old glow engine method for the first start of the day, ignition off and finger over the carb, flip a few times to get fuel drawn. Much easier on the shoulder.

2000 should be a good starting point, just keep an eye on the voltage between flights until you get a good feel for power consumption.
Its a great engine, has been for me so far, outruns the os 1.6 it replaced.

Being left-handed I have to flip from the 7 0'clock position I guess.

I dislocated my shoulder just imagining that. My buddy is left handed but he still flips from the 2 position. Flipping from 7 wouldn't you be pulling up ?

Lefties would flip from left to right as opposed to righties who go right to left

I have 2 26's on a twin project, and love the engines. However, the ignitions are POWER HUNGRY. Just keep a voltmeter eye on them, and no problem...
