So I have read throuh a good amount of this thread and just want to make sure I am understanding some things.

I have 5 of the BLS-42a servos in 60cc Yak 55 with a very vibration heavy engine. I have the typical jitter at neutral with most of the servos. Does changing out the top bearing to the 3mm vs the 2,5mm help with that?

I am very happy with the servos other than them being jittery little buggers. Also any centering advantage going to the BLS-51A or the BLS-50C? planning for my next build or two

Thank you
Chris Hass

Chris,

changing the bearings will solve your existing issue with the 42A's.

The H51B's are the smoothest and quietest (if that is even a word) servos I have ever used.

The H51B's are significantly better than the older 42A's. ( Higher torque, lower current consumption, better centering, soft start, low and over V protection, etc)

...and none of the jitters???? As an early adopter I was burned by 42a's that were unusable due to the jitters......

I never experienced any jitters issue on the 42 a's I had owned. I had a slop issued delevop over time and usage and the bearings fixed that.

Would you still by 42A'S Or Go for the newer 43A's

There about $20 Usd more expensive each, But i dont need tonnes of power for my project.

43's are nicer with soft start, 42's are plenty strong, you can't go wrong with any of those choices.

Good to Know, So for the Same money i can get either the 42's or Savox 1270 ,
Hard question to answer, But which will be better..... , In terms of longevity ,smoothness, etc.?

Nothing wrong with the 1270's, they are a decent servo, but the 42's or 43's outperform them like crazy torque wise, and the Bluebirds don't whine at idle like the 1270's do.

Right the decision gets harder now _ lol, I have Savox 1256Tgs But with very little time, So i dont have much experience with them either. the 1256 ones are not really tight around centre assume the 1270's will be more.

Did you find the 42'S Were pretty tight and smooth in the last iteration?

I had jitters on H50B's but those were only on the ground and not in the air and those were fixed by a firmware update. I had no jitters on my batch of 42A's - I had a total of about 150pcs between 20 or so aircarfts.

+1.

I'd say that if you are very aggressive on servos and are willing to spend a little more - get the ones with helical gears. It's simple physics - better to have more teeth make contact (like with helical gears) than just 1 like straight cut gears. This also results in very little gear wear and slop over time.

So far the helical gears (H51B's) ones are the best I have ever used.

I get mine directly from Bluebird. You can try and email them for pricing and they offer overnight shipping to USA from TW:

sales@blue-bird-model.com

FlightComp also carries them in USA:
