The World Models Customs Question

I found a good deal on a Futaba transmitter from The World Models.
Their website is theworldmodels.com.
Their radios are really inexpensive even the brand name models.
When I get ready to check out, there is a disclaimer stating that if it gets held up at customs that I might have to pay fees.
Anyone have any experience with this type of thing or The World Models company?
They are located in Hong Kong and appear legit but I am worried about the customs thing. Any advice appreciated.

Assuming they have access to product (which is by no means assured) it will arrive with no warranty since it is not sold through futaba USA. It may also not carry an FCC sticker meaning it is not certified for use in the US. Some of the brands they claim to sell are exclusive to Horizon who goes to great lengths to keep their products out of reach to internet only resellers. You decide if it’s truly “legit”.

Yes buying from overseas web sites has many advantages.
You get an all inclusive package
ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE.
ZERO WARRANTY
A NON CERTIFIED TO OPERATE IN THE USA RADIO
MOST LIKELY A CHINESE CLONE RADIO OR RECEIVER
AND MORE HIDDEN BONUSES YOU DISCOVER LATER
I fly a different brand radio, but I would buy a Futaba only from Futaba USA or one of their approved vendors.
So I will recap NEVER EVER NEVER NEVER EVER buy a radio or off brand receivers from overseas web sites.

These guys are the US distributor for The World Models and have been around forever. I have long suspected that it is one and the same company, actually. I have several ARF's from them acquired over the years. This is not a fly-by-night company. I've also purchased replacement parts from them. They make the TaiJi and some other affordable balsa pattern planes.

They have an office in Livermore, CA in addition to World Models office in Hong Kong. I'd suggest that you simply email them to find out whether it will be shipped from Livermore to your house, and whether it is a US-certified, FCC-stickered Futaba radio. You might also call their Livermore office to see what they can tell you about the radio purchase. Their email is [email protected]

What Mad Doctor said
I've dealt with airborne models over the years, not a problem (using the USA distributor).
Got three of their models: Velox II, Aeropet 50, Cap 232

Festivus, thanks for the info. I don't think I will order from them for a Futaba transmitter. I will say though, that I have used Hobby King Orange receivers that are Futaba compatible for years without a single glitch. They are as solid as any receiver I have ever used. I would use them again without hesitation. I think I will hold on the Futaba radio from Hong Kong though.
