Gunny emailed me back, they are hoping to be selling kits again early next year after they set up their new shop.

Its not the gear-- its transmitting the loads to the wooden structure-- you will eventually have problems. The gear design is exactly like what is on my 1/4 scale 180 and it has flexed enough to crack the paint.. course if you monokote it it will look fine until the wooden gear block lets go. One piece with a filler block would be bullet proof.
