Looks good Bob. I admit I was a bit skeptical about the deep draw on the one piece mold, but it looks like it came off OK. Have you looked at Zyvax release products. Fast and easy to use, especially good for production as it doesn't require application every time.

I think I see a hole in the center of the tool? Did you by chance use a little compressed air to help remove the tool from the master?

That is right, on many tools I have manufactured over the years, I have placed a hole at the deepest part of tool as a means of blowout with compressed air.

About 16 years ago I was involved with manufactureing spinners for the unlimited class full scale racing aircracft, and a blowout hole was an essential practice for the demolding process.

Bob, what size building table do you recommend for building this plane?

Excellent build, I can't wait for updates everyday!

I have heard that is good stuff, but have never tried it in our production cycles. I have been using Freekote FMS to seal the tools and Freekote 700 NC as the release agent for the last 17 years or so, and we pull 4-6 high temp pre-preg parts per application of the 700 NC. I have found that if you coat the tool every cycle with a mold release, it will begin to build up too much and actually make the demolds more difficult.

I think a 100" X 36" table would be optimum for this airplane.

Hey Bob,
What tooling resin are you using? I have never seen white off-white unless you are just tinting?

I am using HTR 250, and 302 face coat. The face coat comes in white or gray, both the resin and face coat are from Resin Services, and can be also purchased from Decomp Composites.
