IIRC it's a scratch built jet with thrust vectoring and canards. Not sure of the turbine but I can tell you NO Prop plane can flip as close as this thing can. He actually had it flying backwards at times he fliped it so hard. He hovered and torqued rolled it. I saw the last landing today and it didn't roll the length of the air frame. Amazing ! And jets don't normally amaze me one bit. IMHO it was the hit of the show.

Torque roll from a turbine? What is generating the torque?

man that was awsome to see i didnt have my camera the first time and eating lunch the second. nobody that ive ever seen have done these manuvers not even qq. this jet had to have thrust vectoring. here are some stills close up. the 3rd pic is one of the jets that went in. or whats left of it. after they put out the forrest fire. i dont know how he torked rolled it ,but it was done. and just hovering it was something. also doing flips in it own air space w.t.f.

His name is Ralph ?????? from Germany. The airframe is his own design, similar to a Euro Sport, but very different. It also has Thrust Vectoring and a LARGE Jet Cat Turbine. I am a jet flyer, and trust me, ths was seriously impressive.......and YES he did "torque" Roll the plane. It was a vertial position and rotaed I saw at lease two maybe three times. The Pilot and airframe is Truely COOL!

do they just have the turbine hooked up to some servos or something that rotates and rotate the whole turbine?

How would vector those gasses on such a small scale?

I wasn't able to attend this year, but I'm really interested in this jet. For those that watched it, click on the link to the video below. Did it fly about the same?

Thrust Vectoring- The Turbine is hard mounted, it is the end of the exhaust tube that moves, like a nozzle.
The plane flew a little similar to the video of the Sukoi, but it did endo's within its self, i mean this thing is crazy-D!

The torque rolls were amazing, but if you noticed that sometimes it would torque to the left and sometimes to the right. I think it was just how it entered, not so much the "torque" of the spinning turbine. I may be wrong, but with it going both ways, that is my take at it. Still amazing.

RCDart... I can't believe you asked that question... I am just having fun with you, but that engine spins internally also..

Trey

When he rolled to the right he still had foward air speed, But yes at times during his demo's (Wed.-Thur.- Fri.)
he had zero ( 0 ) airspeed when he torque rolled to the left. At least that is how my video shows it Undeniable turbine torque going on there
