Where can I compete in south florida?

Anybody know where I can compete in south florida? I'm located in West Palm Beach. Anywhere near there? I'm new to IMAC and I want to compete with my 25% extra in the basic/sportsman classes.

Who's active on the other side of Florida? I am looking for pilots in the SWFL region, unfortunately the only two IMAC pilots in my club have quit the hobby.

I've read about the contest, but since I have never competed before I would like to get in touch with other pilots first to learn the ropes.

Hi Thomas.... You don't have to compete..... If you just attend the event, you will be able to see what happens at a contest & you could also volunteer to help.... The CD (Dave Ortmayer) is a good friend and he will certainly involve you in scribing so that you have a front row seat at the contest.

You will be surprised at how quickly you will make friends!

AMPS is a hike for us. There are some IMAC pilots that fly over at the Deray Field. One of them is named Zach and he is an Amazing pilot. I believe he is there today maidening a QQ YAK. I have also heard that the port saint lucie field (off of 70) has a lot of IMAC guys that practice there. Both fields are very nice and dwarf what we are used to at Dyer. I will be headed to Delray soon to watch Zach fly, maybe sometime we can hitch a ride together to one of the fields. BTW, we also have at least one EX IMAC competitor (he now flies helis) at Dyer named Alan. He has given me tips once or twice when I was practicing the basic routine. I cannot tell you how much that helps.

I checked out the AMPS website and it looks nice, but it's definitely a hike. From time to time I've thought about joining the delray club but I've never had a real reason to leave Dyer. I've also started practicing the basic routine on one of my smaller sport planes and it really makes you pay attention to every detail.
