Thought I would Post a Build Thread on my Charger CR1 Foamy. This is my second CR1. I wore out the first one. This plane is a lot of Fun. It is larger than the standard foamy, and is made of 6mm depron. To me a foamy should fly Like a foamy. I have tried the more expensive airfoiled and built up type of elecric 3D planes, but prefer larger flat wing foamy type of planes. Here is what will be used in this plane.

Here is the CR1 That I will be retiring. I flew It just before taking these pics;

I will be using liquid Nails #1 Formula for gluing in the servos, rcvr, motor, speed control, and landing gear. I use this glue on all my Famys. It is extremly strong, light, and remaing flexable, when dried, instaed of brittle like CA.

Here is everything that comes in the kit. There are CF for the pushrods, a nice decal set as well as depron templated if you choose to paint. I will be using the decals.

I opted to get the optional Landing Gear

First Thing Install the wing Spar, Just slide it inti the pre slotted area in the wing and tape it in with the included tape.

Next thing is to cut the bevels in the control surface. I typically make the initial cut with a straight edge and a razor blade, then clean it up on a belt sander.

Next just Tape the ailerons onto the wings and the elevator onto the fuse, The rudder is taped on once the fuse Is put Together.

The Fuseladge and Wing Has interlocking tabs and just snaps together, medium Foam safe CA is used to glue it all together, then the Rudder Is taped on. This step took 5 minutes.

To strengthen The front I add a filler of Liquid Nails #1 Fromula on the front 6" of the fuse:

Now the LG Support and control horns are glued in using #1 Formula

A small peace of tubing holds the wheels on to the prebent landing gear. The gear attaches with two zip tyes.

The motor is attached to the included aluminmum motor mount, with the included screws. This mount gives a lot of surface area to glue and really strengthens the front of the plane

The foam had to be removed in the rear of the motor mount area to allow clearance for the rear bearing of the motor. A soldering iton was used to do this. The motor/mount is glued on with #1 formula

I added a small scrap peace of flat CF to the elevator to add some strength.
