Re: New Carden Aircraft offering!!

Thought I'd get this thread going and share some photos of the first prototype. Unfortunately I dont know how to post a pic so if they arent here, someone tell me how to do it.
If they are there, these were taken over a year ago. Glass is now primed and the airframe ready for Ultracote. Just patiently waiting for a DA-200 to go in the nose.
Man, too bad I quit flying since this project was started. Its cool huh?

I may have to fly again just to try this thing out. OK, so good news is it will have a DA-200 in the nose very shortly. My man, the worlds best airplane builder, Brian Hueffmeier says we'll be in the air soon, shooting for November.

The fuse in the background, (if the pics are there) is a 40% Carden 260 for size comparison.

I pretty much only fly for work now, which is quite a lot of testing actually. Only attended a few events this year. Most of my spare time has been on the back of my Harley. To be honest I've only been to the field on a weekend to fly for fun twice this year. But both times were within the last two weeks though.

Yeah,
Mike put a serious shagging on your 300 a couple of weeks ago. I'm pretty sure that plane did not know what to think!
Looks to me like he's still got it!

Yeah, he's still got it - I saw him fly up at the Nats last July!! Check out the "garden" in the background of the picture!! It looks like a sand and cactus garden - quite a fur piece from the St. Louis area eh Brian?

Sounds like you got the flying bug back maybe. It sure did look like you were having fun with Wayne's 300 at Effingham. I enjoyed the show.

You better wear a helmet when you ride.. Even if it's legal to ride without one. Seen enough people I DON'T know turned into veggies..

Course.. if you REALLY want some fun riding.. Come on out to the west coast and we'll put you on a racetrack

Fortunately for me, I have a head start. Most people tell me I'm already a veggie!

Mike,

Any truth to the rumor; 'a NEW Hanger 9 Sukhoi 26 with a DA85'

Sounds like Hangar 9 is updating their whole line-up of Planes?

thanks, Ward

Re: New Carden Aircraft offering!!

Not an update and OK, not a rumor. The new SU-26 is an entirely new design from the ground up. I used the cowl form the old SU-31 and put a new airframe behind it.
My goal was to see if a Suk could be tweaked out to be a second to none precision and 3D airplane and still stay within the 10% deviation IMAC rule. Its designed around the DA-85.
YES, a SUK can be made into an AMAZINGLY great flying airplane. It weighs in at 21.75 lbs with a DA-85, MTW canister, 2 x rx batteries and a pilot figure. 97" span.
I took it to the Wheeler IMAC contest last weekend so I'm sure some pics will be up soon. I did a freestyle demo with it and Brendan Jones flew it, and won Sportsman with it, every round after the first flight. (unfortunatley he lost my 35% 260 in a midair on friday eve, but these things happen).

So, stay tuned, this SUK is hooked up!
