DX-20 So what's the verdict?

I sent in my Gen 1 DX-18 to get the pots replaced and a general going over. In the meantime I started looking for a backup Spektrum Tx but then began thinking maybe a new one was in order. Getting info on the DX-20 is a litle mysterious. There seems to have been a rocky start with threads that end in 2017 and not much since has surfaced. Unfortunately Spektrum offerings in high end radios is lacking. We have IX-12's at the field and I'm not impressed. The DX-20 is way more then I need and want to spend but it's the only other option left. Just checking to see if the bugs have been resolved and what other users have to say about it. While I like other brands, it has to be DSMX/2 protocol so please keep comments appropriate.

for what that is worth I don't know any Metro Atlanta pilots with this radio... IMO that is kinda weird.

There has been a few for sale but not much chatter online. IMO a DX-12 would be a great addition to the lineup. A more traditional 12 channel with standard airware and modest price would be a real winner.

Gimbals are butter smooth and precise, telemetry works great with the new telemetry capable receivers, love the new AS3000 stabilizer gyro addition to the receiver.
The feel is on the heavy side and solid, the lypo battery last quite a while.
Cant think of any dislikes, very happy with it,

I have one. Like most radios, it works fine. I've flown it a lot on my BVM Ultra Bandit with zero issues.

I am looking too as my dx18 seems to be loosing range slowly so I suspect whatever was bad out of the gate with it is slowly starting to go again. I was going to just buy another dx18 but they were discontinued. The dx12 doesnt have good slider positioning and i didnt think the dx20 slider positioning is any better. It just didnt feel that good in my hands.. I am hopig they do something in the dx18 case soon or I may shift brands due to the crappy slider positioning on their current model transmitters.

I have spent quite a bit of time with a friends DX20 and I wouldn’t buy one. I setup a rather complex airplane with it, yes it does the job, but for a transmitter at this price point it’s not real impressive. The programming is ok, but feels cheap, I don’t like the screen and at times the sound cuts out when cycling through programming. The gimbals and feel of it in your hands is nice however. If you don’t have a bunch of Spektrum recievers I would look elsewhere.

I'd marry it if it were legal in Florida.
The programming is intuitive, it will do near about anything programming wise.
It has a very solid feel in my hands and the gimbals are smooth as butter.

I had a review to do and let my buddy, a DX18 user fly something so I could photograph it, and he ordered a 20 the next day. He had held it before but never flew one, but once he got a flight on one that was it.

I love my dx20. its easy to use and comfortable to hold. does everything I need. for the money I think its great. ive used most futabas. hitecs, and almost every Spek. the ix12 I would have loved to keep but im so used to the speeds of my phone that I couldn't slow down enough to use the ix12. if it was faster it would be the perfect tx. the dx20 is by far my favorite.

I have a buddy with one and it feels great in my hands. Programming is easy as is typical. If I wasn’t in a committed relationship of another brand I’d buy one in a heartbeat at this point in it’s life/production.

I also wanted to like the 12, but found it too painfully slow...
