Bad day for my DA-120

Full throttle pass across the field and "BANG", locked right up. Going to DA for an autopsy.

How much time did you have on that engine? How old is it?

This would be the 5th season on this engine, about a dozen gallons of fuel, original prop.

Definitely not seized, this engine stopped rotating instantly. The undamaged jug and piston is pristine. The other piston is loose and will move about 1/4" back and forth and will twist a bit too. It is locked in the jug by either the broken ring or wrist pin snap ring sticking out into one of the intake ports. . Either way it wont come out.

It's boxed up and ready to ship. Frankly being 5 years old I expect zero help from DA, just want them to see the fail point and hope it helps them out some how. I already have a new engine bought and sent my way. Ordered it from the flying field yesterday, Ha!

they will give him a quote on how much it's going to cost to put it back together. certainly no other responsibility on their part.

1 jug and piston from the good side and the carb would be just about it. Even the reed cage was taken out! When we all heard the bang I said "ooohhh that's gonna be expensive".. ha!
