3DHS 106" Edge540 V1 vs V2 version

My issue is that I have several Hitec 7955 servos I would like to use in my upcoming 100cc plane. I am still trying to decide which airframe I should get. I am very happy with my smaller EF and 3DHS planes so I would like to stay with them. The V1 version says that the Hitec 7955's will be good enough. The V2 version is calling out for a minimum of 400 oz.of torque. My first question is are the control surfaces bigger on the V2 version compared to V1? I will need to buy at least 4 more servos which will be Hitec 7950's but can I use 7955's on any of the surfaces?

Thanks

sent you a pm...sorry I thought the servos were HV and rated higher, but I still think they will be fine if you run a life pack.

Thanks for your input. I was planning to run LiIon batteries regulated to 6V using a smart fly system. I know there are people running the 7955's at higher voltages but I personally don't want to risk it. I could set the regulator as high as 6.5V.

The aerodynamics of the V1 and V2 are exactly the same...it's the environment of giant scale aerobatics which has changed. Everyone is using 120CC+ now, and everyone is getting more and more aggressive, hence the up-spec'd servos.

On the other hand, for those of us who are a little more laid back, the Edge will fly very nicely on a DA-100 and our 5-year-old coreless servos.

Thanks, I like the looks of the new V2 orange scheme. I fly mostly low and slow so I should be OK. I have 4 7955's. Would it be better to use them all on the ailerons or should I use 2 on the rudder and 2 on the elevator. The other 4 I will buy new so I will get the 7950's. I love DA's and have a couple smaller ones, but for this project I am going to use a DLE120 because of budget restraints.

Use those on the ailerons, IMO. I still have an older 35% plane with EME 120 and 4 x 7955TG on ailerons...it's just fine.
