Falcon 24-9 is working great on my 70 with the 2 into 1 canister setup on my Laser, I’ll be using the same setup on my Bushmaster and I’m pretty sure Chris is using the Falcon 24-9 on his too.

Sounds good I already have a falcon, I was just wondering with such a large wingspan if a 25-8 would send more air out to ail's

I’m sure the 25-8 would work well too.

Hello. Just got my Bushmaster yesterday, impressive as always from EF.
Wondering, I have a DLE-85 and a DA-120 available. The 120 will fit with the plug caps inside the dummy outlets.
The 85 will need a shortening of the motor box.
What would You choose?

Either one is going to be crazy overpowered. If I had to pick one it would be the 85

The 120 will not fit, the DA 70 is snug at the plugs. If you absolutely have to use one of those motors I would say try the 85 but to be honest you would be better off selling one of those motors and purchasing the DA 70. The plane was designed around the 70 and it’s really the perfect power package for it. The 85 is going to hang out of the bottom of the cowl and will ruin the looks of the plane.

I'm happy with the power and quiet of my Xpwr60 in the big TBM, but wish for longer flights. I too thought a used 85-class motor might be a good switchout at some point, so I printed off the mounting pattern/dimensions of a DLE85, as that info is readily available. With the correct standoffs to get the prop hub past the nose of the cowl, nearly the entire cylinder would be out in the breeze, just in front of the "chin scoop" area of the stock cowl. As Lee noted, I think it would look terrible, unfortunately...

Has anyone tried a DA 100? With its angled plugs it’s very close in width to the DA70.

The 70 plug caps/wires are literally touching the sides of the cowl even with the turbine exhaust openings being strategically adjusted to fit the plugs of the 70. I don’t think it would work. In addition to that width of the 100, the extra length will result on possibly having to cut the motor box back and that will create more issues because the heads/plugs won’t line up with the exhaust holes on the sides of the cowl. The bottom of the cowl needs to be opened for clearance of the carburetor on the 70, the 100 carb would be close to an inch lower too. If you could manage to do it I think it would ruin the looks of the front end of the plane. In addition the extra weight will likely cause CG issues and it would way over power the plane.

Agree with all that and just another thought......when Chris was working with prototypes he specifically made that cowl to barely encapsulate the plugs of the DA70 within the exhaust stacks.
