Re: Daytona IMAC 2009? and GA IMAC 2009???
agreed, we need to keep a radius open around contests.. what do the SE regional pilots think is an accepatable radius no compete clause , if you will.. hrs of travel, or miles.?? TIA

Re: Daytona IMAC 2009? and GA IMAC 2009???
AMA requires at least a 300 mile separation between events for a class AA listing.

Yea but most AMA events will not draw pilots from that far away but IMAC fliers will drive a long way . So if you had a contest with only 300 mile separation then one contest would pull pilots that would gone to the other contest . Just my 2cents worth . |

Re: Daytona IMAC 2009? and GA IMAC 2009???
Just thought to let everyone know that the Flying Griffins club has agreed on having another IMAC meet in 09. We are looking at end of May to have this event.
Keep a look out for that and for the 2009 Daytona Contest. ![]() |

Re: Daytona IMAC 2009? and GA IMAC 2009???
just keep it away from Bike Week. That might be more wildness than most IMAC guys could handle.
Bike week is mild compared to some of these IMAC guys! I say RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF BIKE WEEK SO I CAN DO BOTH! (just kidding!) |

Re: Daytona IMAC 2009? and GA IMAC 2009???
WOW the first of the year is looking like a contest every other weekend. Having Daytona earlier would be better, but having it near bike week could be a plus for some of our biker trash IMAC pilots, just kidding I used to be one myself.

Re: Daytona IMAC 2009? and GA IMAC 2009???
Guys as far as the Allen Taylor IMAC II 2009 we are undecided where it is going to be. We are currently looking for a new Homebase field now due to our old field the rent has went up very high! The place we had it last year the guy has welcome us back, but if we find a new flying site for the club and it is better we might go that route! I heard rumors this new site is a good friend of one of the club members and he lands his full scale there all the time! I still wish to keep my old field. If we keep the old field we have now we might try to have it there instead of the Pecan Patch. Only problem at the home field is there is less airspace room. But I think we could handle it.

Re: Daytona IMAC 2009? and GA IMAC 2009???
Hi Kev,
Have you considered working with the Columbus / Ft. Benning club to continue Bobby Richardson's IMAC contest in June? I know that they have another new field near Columbus and were willing to continue the contest with help from us in running it for them. The field that we had the contest at last year didn't work out for them and they moved again to an even better place (check their website at http://www.amaclub217.org/ ). The map is up to date but the field photo is not. While I haven't talked with them about this idea yet, I'd be glad to help get it started if you want to take it on. We had a great turn-out at all the latest Ga. meets and I'd hate to lose this one. Best wishes and have a great Christmas, Chris |
