Any other F3S events anticipated this year? Maybe as an add-on to more IMAC contests (Coolidge, Ga., hint, hint)?

Need another opinion: the Ares XL comes with wing fences and I'm wondering if there's any real advantage in installing (will be permanent it appears). Seba flies with them but I see most Ares without. Other than a little more side force do they contribute anything useful in precision work? In full scale AC they are called "stall fences" and are there to prevent spanwise airflow and increase aileron effectiveness at high angles of attack. Don't intended to fly 3D with mine so do I really want to mess up my clean wings?

I just sent him a message to ask why he didn’t use them on his AreS and as soon as I hear back from him, I’ll let you know what he says. |

Chris....I just heard back from Paris Christodoulides . He is on the FAI’s rules sub-committee with Matt Balazs for F3S & this is what he said:
“Paris sent Today at 8:27 AM For F3S it is better to put them on. They stabilise the plane on the knife-edge.” So, I could also check Sebastiano if you want. I checked with Seba & he said: “ Must be on, It flies better with them.” So I guess you have some gluing to do! |

On they go! Thanks Wayne. As an interesting side note, the full scale BAE Hawk that Seba based the Ares on (and my color scheme) is shown in these two photos both with and without wing fences.

![]() Sebastiano has also developed a contra-rotating prop (electric) for precision aerobatics which he says works great. I don’t expect it to be accepted in Scale Aerobatics since we haven’t seen anything like that on a full scale aerobat. At the same time, the wheels of progress trundles forward, and some will be left wondering “What just happened!” |

Wayne, could you ask Seba where he got the support stand in this photo? It appears to have the "V" profile to fit the Ares' ventral fin that runs along the bottom of the fuselage.

This was saturday's second flight with F3S sequence. I bet only the ones who fly F3S can spot where I deliberately put in a maneuver where it shouldn't be! ![]()

I'll throw in a thought about wing fences from my perspective; if you are good enough to notice the difference that they'll make in knife edge, then go for it. For me, I'm not that good, we don't spend that much time in a knife edge and having those things, creates a real pain in the butt when it comes to the wing bags and transporting the wings.
