Precision Aerobatics Katana MD

G,day all, while waiting for my new Comp ARF 260 to arrive I thought I would get myself a little project to give me something to fly in the mean time. I went for the full package from PA incluing motor, speedie, RX, servos battries etc etc.
Package consisted of.
46" katana: Yellow Scheme
PA Quantum 35amp ESC
PA Thrust 30 Outrunner
3.5mm Bullet connectors
2X PA 3 cell 2200Mah 20C batt
Deans Plugs
5mm Prop adaptor
2X APC props(12x6 & 13x6.5)
Blue Bird BMS 373MG servos x4
KMD long servo arm set
Signal Dc FM micro 6ch RX
Carbon Fibre wheel pants
Custom Wing bags
The entire package was supplied by Precision Aerobatic. It came very well packaged and after having a test fit of all the componenets Im happy to say every thing fits very neatly. Build quality looks excellent with no wrinkles in the covering and no bows or twists in any surface. Ive already cut away all the film from the wing tube, servo, stab holes using the hot wire method sugested in the manual, worked a treat.

Very nice. I'll be really interested to see what you think about how it flies. Wouldn't mind one of them as something to fly at a decent size park and down the field

Nice model Matt very well made, I have a red one which I have had for about 18months. Good to see you didnt buy the blueshark motor and gearbox they were selling with the one which I bought. That motor and gearbox was a heap of junk, had 2 different gearbox's and then the motor stopped working.
Got sick of it put it in the corner of the room where it still is today. May have to drag it out again one day and put in a different motor

Re: Precision Aerobatics Katana MD

Got a bit more done today inbetween taking the daughter for a ride on her bike(she just got off training wheels). Finished off the wings. I ran into a bit of trouble mounting the servos in the wings. The mounts for the servos look like they are made from balsa with a very thin(0.5mm) piece of carbon over the screw holes. When screwing into this the mounts split very easily, so i made a plate out of 2mm ply to sit over the existing mounts, worked a treat. Made up the pushrods for the ailerons and installed the Carbon horns for the ailerons. You need to be very acurate with the pushrods as they have a Z bend at each end, so no room for adjustment except subtrim. Also mounted the wheels to the carbon undercarrige but had a few dramas trying to get the wheel spats to sit right without going for a much longer axle so I left the spats off for now as our field is a little rough anyway.

Yeah I have a 6" extension on there at the moment but that was just to be able to plug in to the RX for setup. Not sure which way I will go yet. I may solder the extensions on to save the weight of the plugs. I was thinking of using the micro EZ connectors but thought I would give the Z bends a try, I got one perfect and the other was just a little out which a touch of subtrim fixed.
