I got one of these, and I've been using it on a DA-120. It takes a bit of getting used to. It does put some stress on your wrist, but with some practice, it gets to be pretty natural. I think the key is finding the right point on the prop to start. Too high, and it's hard to get enough speed. Too low, and you have a lot more breaking force on your wrist and more trouble getting a nice smooth and straight motion.

I've found that getting a whipping motion going before the wrist lets go on the prop works best. Move the shoulder, arm, then the wrist moving last as the tail of the whip. That momentum pops you over the compression with a fast and easy to control stroke. That was working well for me.

I was watching a guy start his first gas engine by hand yesterday, a da-35. When it kicked off with his fingers inches away, yeah, I saw the natural shock and fear. We get to where we take that for granted, but that fear is there for a reason!

I started my DLA170 by hand for a few times and when it fired up and I was standing in front of the prop...I dont mind saying, It down right scared me with that big blade swinging in front of me! I put the prop at 11 o:clock and (standing to the side) with the RCS I am as comfortable as can be when it fires up now. I never had any problem with the motion of using the RCS. It just seems easy for me from the start. I go pretty close to the end of the blade (watch the end of the video) and I make sure to keep my wrist straight and it just works for me. When I tune my 170,...start it...stop it...start it...repeat...repeat... after about 35 starts with the RCS it is just a breeze to flip the prop and fire up the engine.

I got a chance to put the RCS to the test at the flying field... It got passed around the pits today at Breezy Hill in Chester, IL. Numerous starts with it, it looks like a veteran starting stick now! I think you will be getting an order soon!

The best $25 I have ever spent. Starts my 3 blade 28.5 with ease.

Received my Rolling Chicken Stick several weeks ago, but the crazy weather here in the Midwest has kept me grounded ever since. However, yesterday I was able to break out the G-62 powered Edge 540T for the first flights of the year and WOW...love the new sick!!

The G-62 has always been and easy start, but the Rolling Chicken Stick makes the process even more enjoyable. No more slipping in and out of a glove or having to throw the shoulder out of joint when I accidentally over-prime the engine. Adding to my enjoyment, the smooth follow-through arm action appears less taxing on the arm. After seven flights, I'm hooked!! Thanks Rich
